God I hope yo uare right. I think someone said on here and it was a good point: Whenever there is a major move player wise in the NFL it is always linked to the Redskins, simply because our history shows we are the most aggressive. |

re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)
Good point on the cap space. I'm sure our cap-masters could find a way, though.
Yeah, we do seem to be a lightening rod for controversial player moves. Hopefully a few years of stability will calm that down.

But yea this is not happening. No way. Everyone likes to throw our name into the discussion. Every disgruntled player seems to be going to washington all the time. Its not going to happen. I don't want favre but just think about how cool it would be to see him at training camp. Definitely my favorite non redskin of all time. BUt i hope he stays my favorite NON-redskin of all time. |

re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)
FOX Sports on MSN - NFL - Sources: Packers won't release Favre
In late March during the NFL Owners Meeting, Favre informed the team he wanted to play again, multiple sources have told FOXSports.com. Not only did he insist he was returning, both head coach Mike McCarthy and GM Ted Thompson agreed that he still had something left and they would welcome him back. Despite the fact that those close to Favre have stated Thompson did not want Favre back, Thompson was the deciding factor in agreeing it was not too late to have him un-retire at that time and start for the Packers in 2008. In fact, team brass went as far as chartering a jet to fly to Mississippi to make it official later that week. The agreement was that the NFL's all-time leading passer would return for the year but help make it easier and palatable for Rodgers, who would have to wait another season to take the helm.

re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)
If he could some how get released and go to the Vikings it might end alright for Favre but not the Packers. But I don't see G.B ever letting that happen.

Wouldnt it be kinda funny if he got traded to Alanta?
He could end his career where it all started. |

re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)
I think that would be the most likely scenario, but would Favre want to play for a rebuilding team? I think he's trying to come back another year to win a Super Bowl, and I don't think that there is current team that is in Super Bowl contention that would need a QB

re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)
Yeah I dont buy that he would come back to play for a rebuilding team either. I think the only team thats needs a QB and could possibly make it to the Superbowl next year is Minn., well maybe also NYG or Dal. And no way they release him to take that chance.
I got to wonder if he wants to come back for a couple seasons. |

re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)
If Vince Lombardi can come to the Redskins from the Packers, so can Farve. I know the Redskins season ticket holders, including myself, would love to see it. They would surely sell more beer at the games, too. Hey, we did average 20.9 points a game last year. That is not enough.

Re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)
i'm not sure an established team would really be eager to pull their current starter for him for 1 year... i mean, he'd help the redskins for 1 season, but with a new coach and campbell healthy, i don't think it's in our long term interests to do that.

Re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)
It should be interesting to see how this plays out. I have to admit I almost wish we were in the market for a QB. He's undoubtedly going to go to a contender, he could really tip the balance of wherever he goes. Tampa and Carolina seem like a couple of logical destinations.

Re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)
If I'm another team, such as Carolina perhaps, I might be tempted to call the Packers up and say "what do you want for Aaron Rodgers?" Then the Packers save themselves from any PR mess by not having to trade away Favre and they can just develop Brohm for 2009 or whenever.
