- Make and receive calls.
- Check message and call history.
- Take, view, and send pics.
- Store numbers easily.

But I don't understand which features I can't click into without getting a $2 data charge on my bill. That crap pisses me off, I get charged just for goofing around on my phone!

But all these apps and smart phones and IPhones and all this stuff, I don't get it. I see my phone as a tool, not some cool thing to play with.

That said if you put one in my hand I'd probably be like a kid on Christmas. Until someone does though, I'll make my calls and texts, hike up my pants real high, and drink my metamucil.

That's just it. I used to be the same way. But once you try it out the iPhone there's no going back. It's so much more than just a phone.

How is it as a phone though? Because my wife has an iPhone and she loves everything about it, except when she actually has to use it as a phone. She's had numerous problems with it. The latest is that voice mail messages left for her don't actually appear on her phone until several days later and missed calls don't show up.

On a related note, does anyone have the Palm Pre? Any thoughts?

Re: iPhone

Two must have apps are google and remote. The google app doesn't require you to type your search, just speak it. The voice recognition is excellent. Pretty sweet.

Remote is sick. If your iPhone is connected to the same network as your computer, you can pair your phone with your iTunes and use it as a wireless remote control.

Both apps are free.

I must say, this iPhone is the best gadget purchase I've made since I first bought an HD television.

Re: iPhone

I also just picked up the free app "CardStar." It creates on-screen bar codes for all of your membership cards (Blockbuster, grocery stores, gyms) which scan just like the originals. Helped me get rid of my Constanza wallet.

Thanks for the tip. I downloaded it today and set up my Vitamin Shoppe, Giant Food, and gym membership card. Good stuff.

Re: iPhone

Question for you iPhone savvy folks-

I have several movies on my computer, a few of which I'd like to upload on to my phone, but the movies weren't purchased through iTunes, and they aren't in my iTunes software. How do I get those movies on to my phone? I tried going to the "add files to library" section of iTunes and selecting the files, but they aren't showing up under the "movies" tab.

Re: iPhone

Ok, you need to use an app to convert the source to compatible format. I just downloaded Handbrake and was playing a bit torrented .avi of Iron Man (720p) in about 15 minutes. Handbrake is very intuitive, but let me know if you need an assist.

BTW- you do add them via the method you were trying. I think you were running into issues with incompatible file types...
