As for Schneed being Schneed. Honestly, I think Schneed could have and should have been more respectful. And I think the rest of the board has to stop encouraging him to be an asshole whenever he pleases. That's really on the mods I think.

If you had opened the debate in a calm and respectful manner, the following discussion may have followed suit. Instead you kicked the door in and to hear that you are surprised by the reactions is somewhat comical. By the way we're not profiting at all from the shirts. We never have, not when we sold Sean Taylor tribute shirts or anything else. The intent of all of this was to just have a little fun. If you disagree and don't want to participate that's fine. But we're not closing any threads and not changing any images. |

This board is filled with a great wide range of ideals and opinions. Anytime the lines of respect gets crossed around here there are many who will call it out. A ten year old could read this thread and have a pretty good idea which posts crossed the line. Last edited by wilsowilso; 08-01-2009 at 12:03 PM. |

I do believe some people here got way out of hand in responding to you, and should have been a bit more respectful. But then again, we have to remember how serious things are not taken over the internet. I hope this is a learning moment for everyone and we can move on to talk about our team.

I'm reminded of this... Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons controversy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and I can't help but laugh.

Re: Pineapple Je5us (Colt Brennan tribute)
I haven't commented here in a while, but I felt compelled to do so.
There is a heavy bias to the status quo here on the warpath. Whatever the mods and "veteran" posters like stays up, and whatever they don't gets taken down or locked. So when the little guy complains its falls on deaf ears. I have gotten ripped for saying less on here, and have gotten chastised for offending fewer. So, why is it when someone who isnt a mod or veteran poster feels slighted, we tell them to suck it up or worse, we call them all types of names. To add further insult to injury, you tell the man to do all types of things to avoid or ignore what he is offended about. So rather than addressing the issue, you tell him to go to the "options bar" so he can ignore the avatar. By implication that says to me, "If you don't like it ignore it or leave, cuz we are gonna do what we like." I get it now, this site belongs to a select few and what they want goes. I understand that the way it was presented was a little "eclectic," but the fact remains that no matter how it is viewed, calling CB the "Pineapple Jesus" is offensive. Period. Whether it is offensive by a lot or a little, to have the crown of thorns trivialized like that is going to offend people. What if I believed that Jason Campbell was the last prophet, and I called him Jason Muhammed? Or what if I linked Portis to being the Dali Lama or some ish like that. Point is, once religious parallels are used, one is asking for trouble, and in my opinion, its not worth it for a player who HASN'T PLAYED A SINGLE REGULAR SEASON DOWN FOR US! There isn't a radio or tv station that would be able to hold that up for a week before people would begin to protest. There is no way to justify the nickname. The best reason that one can come up with to justify it is that it is catchy and that this is all in good fun, but ultimately that loses its cred in the court of common sense. So I plead with the warpath mods, if you want to be taken seriously as objective moderators with all of the censoring/editing that you do, please lock/delete this thread and create a new one that is more creative and less offensive. . It will not be hard, we are all intelligent, and I know we can come up with something better to call CB that Pineapple Jesus.

In this case, they don't see fit to change something that 95% of Warpath members find funny, just to appease the other 5%. Basically, they're not letting a whiny 5% ruin the fun for the rest of us. I for one, am glad they exercise such sound judgment, as they've done for years.

I'm sorry if a few people are offended, but the majority seem to have no problem with it and can see where it was coming from. That said, I can't justify bowing to the needs of just a few people when the majority don't have a problem with it. |

If we ran things that way I don't think much would get accomplished around here. Where do we draw the line? If someone gets offended or put off by a discussion by your logic we should cater to that one person and say F off to the majority? Sorry, just not following your logic. |
