Re: I Was impressed!!!

Marko simply has to be on this team. It is going to be a travishamockery if he gets cut. Forget the TD. I was more impressed that he always seemed to be blocking or doing the other things he needed to be doing. Never did we see him just standing there.

Mason is almost on the same level except I am less convinced he is a starter level player than Mitchell. I do think Mason is the best 3rd string back we have. Hell we have too many good rbs.

Squarely I hope .

Honestly rewatching the highlights makes me a Marko maniac. It's not just how he runs routes and pulls the pigskin in. On the long pass to Cooley it was Mitchell blocking the hell out of the DB to let Cooley pick up extra yards. And then he's right there to give a hand when Cooley hits the deck. I see why CP like the kid...i have a feeling there's lots to like there.

If it happens, let me know when you're leaving and I'll meet you there. We can both kick them in the nuts. Remember the personal foul called on the bench? It turns out Jerry Gray called an official by his first name and was told that wasn't allowed. Blache said he was told Gray cussed and said that was wrong because Gray never cusses. When he heard the other excuse he went off about the official and said that was a lame excuse and the official had changed it because he knows Gray doesn't cuss. Do the officials make these rules up as they go along?

Thank you for the rundown on that penalty. I was wondering what happened there. It sounds like a load of crap penalty, though.

Re: I Was impressed!!!

One last prop I'll give JC tonight is, well, something been said over and over again: give him some actual time in the pocket and he makes good decisions and good throws. Go back and watch the highlights and it's just so obvious (sometimes the live action moves too quick for me). Jason gets it done when given the opportunity...

...that will be the key to the season. Can the line get better and hold up for 16+ games?

Re: I Was impressed!!!

Nice to see things clicking, though there's still work to be done, no doubt. But if JC gets some time and can get his rhythm, he's got a gun. I'm not so surprised to see JC stepping up--it takes time to learn this system, and offense is generally behind D in preseason. We know this every year, but still we freak out!

Mason looked good--and he even threw a good block on a blitz, if I recall. Love to see him make it. And if Marko doesn't make it, yes, nuts should be kicked. Squarely.

Barnes and Tryon looked better on the few plays I noticed (the pick was a gimme, but, hey! He caught it!) Smooty looked good, but Wes W wasn't in there. Moss fried us, but I'll chalk that up to his ability and Brady's. Still, we've gotta tighten it up back there!

Blades hit that caused the fumble was brutal! I really think he's a baller and he's learning from London, no doubt. And kudos to the staff for the quick challenge there!

Penalties gotta stop--obviously.

One more thing I really liked: JC standing in and taking the hit, but getting the ball to Betts. That's impressive. And loved the pump fake on the TD.

We've played 3 extremely tough Ds and it will help us down the road, I'm sure. Let's just keep growing.

Are you saying his performance solidified his spot on the team? I dont think he played well at all, and I dont see the "growth" from last year, outside of his feet. His arm is average at best, and his mechanics are still horrible. He isnt making good reads, the INT wasnt even close, and for the second week in a row thats a redzone turnover. Ultimately, I think its gonna have alot to do with how Daniel plays next week.

Also.......did I mention I HATE "gunslingers"!!! You can have the Favre/Romo/Brennan types, give me a game manager that doesnt turn the ball over every single game. Combined with a good running game, and a solid defense....thats the combination for a great team IMO.

You are a smart person who knows how to build a consistently good team.

As for Brennan, yeah, if you are going to sidearm it you had better be making good decisions. Combining poor decisions with poor mechanics is a recipe for failure.

Yeah man damn those Kurt Warner,Tom Brady,Brett Favre and Peyton Manning types. Them and their stupid Super Bowl rings.
Not many Game managers win titles. Dilfer and Johnson are the exception but defenses like they had dont come along every season.

I can't speak for roth74va but for me, Brady, Manning, and arguably Warner are definitely NOT gunslingers. If you watch them, they are careful with the ball and avoid taking stupid Favre-like chances with the ball.

The playing styles of Brady and Manning are very different from the playing styles of folks like Favre and Romo. It is only the latter folks that you can put in the category of "gunslinger," that is, folks who are reckless with the ball.
