Re: Landry is now a bust!

At least the issue is being addressed within Redskins Park:

News & Notes: Landry Talks Tackling

Gray's comment here says it all:

"I think LaRon is going to be a lot better," Gray said. "The thing you have to do is take a better angle. LaRon is not going to shy away from contact. We have to keep understanding to use the the old wrapping technique when a guy gets into open space. Just get him down."

I'm no psychiatrist but that sure sounds like "Landry has been avoiding contact...it's not going to continue."

But it's a little scary too. Aside from being a liability to your defense, the guy who shy's away from contact always seemed the most likely to get hurt out there. Landry has basically missed contact altogether when the impact could really hurt i.e. flailing his body 3 feet wide of the ball-carrier or simply diving to the turf as he did on Turner's 2nd TD. But if he does it "half-way" the next time, making contact but w/ lousy technique I think that's a real dangerous situation for the scared kid.

Re: Landry is now a bust!

LaRon Landry needs to be moved to SS where he can be closer to the LOS. He is a better suited for blitzing and tackling near the LOS. He would be a monster near the LOS were he could use his speed and physical ablity. I bet he would cause some FF if he played closer to the LOS. We need to put Kareem Moore at FS.

Re: Landry is now a bust!

Can I just bump this thread so I can complain about how Landry feels the need to stroke his own ego after every tackle he makes? I mean come on, if you pound some WR coming across the middle, okay cool. Thats worth celebrating. But if you just tackle a RB who got a 6 yard gain and you feel the need to celebrate over that?

Is something wrong with Landry in the head or...? If anyone watches Ravens games does his brother do that BS? I get the feeling he doesn't...

Laron has A LOT of maturing to do. I'll concede that this was one of his better games, but after the big hit on Roy Williams, he went out of his way to step over Williams, who was still down on the field, then crossed his arms and mugged for the audience. That to me is dangerously close to taunting, and could have sustained a Dallas drive. Unfortunately Landry will be flagged in a key moment for this type of BS until he starts to get it. I don't recall #21 feeling the need to mug for the crowd after blowing up a receiver. Steve Jackson needs to step up and tell Landry to knock that shit out of his whole act.

It's another case of a player simply doing what he's supposed to do, nothing spectacular but just routine football, and then act like it was game-changing or something.

Sadly we have a few too many these types on the roster. Landry IMO is the worst though. I've never seen him make a play that most of the safeties in the league couldn't. What I have seen is a lot of truly piss-poor plays that would have gotten most safeties benched i.e. avoiding contact like the plague, horrible cheap shots that cost the team dearly, etc etc. Landry's an embarrassment because of his play part of the time and because of his behavior all the time...I hate the fact he plays on my team.

Yea his brother does it as well but not to Laron's extent. Ray Lewis is the only player that does it as much as dirty 30.

I'm getting tired of Moss and El doing it too. I could have sworn I saw El jumping up and down after another fair catch

He was celebrating the fact that the ball didn't hit him in the facemask.

Yeah he didn't even really get that tackle yet he was still spouting off... and no I haven't seen his brother go that crazy with it.

I like how after making a routine tackle Landry dances and celebrates like he just made the game winning tackle in the super bowl...
