If Snanahan becomes the next coach, I look for him to have a serious hand in that department.

Great point. Shanahan is going to be hands on picking players. The more I hear Shanahan name, the more I like it. Cowboy fans around the office are pissed cause they all wanted Shanahan after Wide Phillips gets axed. Anybody have any ideas about the kind of D Cordinator he would bring in? I know Ill catch flak for this, but I hope Blache would stay or if not that Gray would be promoted.

As much as i'd love to keep Gray as DC (Blache needs to go), i'd be shocked if Shanahan didn't bring in someone from the outside. He's going to want his people here.

I would be shocked if he fired Blache. The biggest qusestion I have is would Blache want to continue to coach.

He's definitely got a good track record and i think, if hired, his record is much more relevent than Allen's alleged record. I'm really hoping JLC's report that we're looking at bringing in DeCosta is true as well.

I only really have two concerns with Shanahan has our HC

1) his lines in denver were always the smaller, more agile type and i'm not sure that type of line would hold up well in this division.

2) He'll get rid of our defensive staff and system and our defenses will be as instable as his were in Denver. If Shanahan can somehow be convinced to keep our system in place with either Blache or Gray as coordinator, and Shanahan sticks to running the offense (our defenses have pretty much had full autonomy for most of the past decade), then we're not far off from being a truly great team again.

One thing you can't argue is Denver's ability to run the ball. I would think it would be a major upgrade for us. We haven't been real consistent in that dept although we've had some good years. Denver's been pretty good in that dept no matter the division.

Thats true, but the redskins face much stronger and bigger defensive lines, so i'm somewhat concerned. I wonder how many running backs we'll take in the draft if Shanahan's hired. I don't see him being very happy with the depth we have here.

Florio has been saying this for months , that guy is usually always right on in his stories.

Re: Report: Shanahan in Talks with Redskins

I think there is a big difference between having an issue with the Rooney Rule and having an issue with the media making a big deal out of it. If you have a problem with the latter, well deal with it. The media is going to dig up any shit on any team to get their headlines and that's a fact of life. Right now, none of the proponents of the Rooney Rule have said anything about the Redskins not sticking to the rule guidelines. All that has happened is that Mike Florio and other people are just digging up shit to make a story and that's it.

As far as the Rooney Rule, as many have said, it was put in place to give minority candidates (who otherwise may be overlooked) an opportunity to be exposed to the interview process. I don't think there's anything in the Rooney Rule that says that you have to hire a minority. I don't think the Rooney Rule is taking jobs away from white coaches and executives. And if teams are having "sham interviews" well, why do people bitch about that? It is up to the candidate to decide if they want to go through these interviews...and honestly, while it may suck interviewing in this situation, but it may give a minority candidate the opportunity to learn from this interview process.

The way Snyder feels about Blache and Gray, they may get a shot. I think they have some respect around the NFL. Of course if Snyder has truly learned, it won't be his decision to make.

Re: Report: Shanahan in Talks with Redskins

If we get Shanahan, he'll definetely bring his guys to coach the O. He'd be smart not to mess with our D but as BHA pointed out, his DC's come and go. If he doesn't, Blache, depending on if he still wants to coach is our DC, if not it's Gray. Very simple
