Isn't Zorn getting like $5 million a year? You tell me who's getting over like a fat cat.

It's definitely part of the business. These days coaches essentially get 3 years to turn things around. Zorn got two. No biggie. Personally, I'd like to see him stay, but hey.

Chris Mortensen on ESPN Pro Football Blitz Just said that "Bruce Allen was Mike Shanahans guy so Shanahans going to end up being the Redskins Head Coach, you can put that one in the book". He was asked why Gruden would not be the next coach because of his relationship with Allen and Chris answered, "It ant happening, Mike Shanahan is going to be the Redskins head coach".


Sounds pretty official to me.

I don't get why anyone would want Zorn to stay. The team improved when he was stripped of most of his duties. I see no point in bringing Zorn back. I like Zorn too...he would make a great neighbor but I don't want him coaching my football team.

It is interesting, but pretty weak arguments when applied to our situation here:

His first argument is fallacious, he builds the evidence of Shanahan being better than Holmgren, very well I might add:

So let’s compare apples to apples. Shanahan lost Elway to retirement at the end of the 1998 season. Mike Holmgren lost Brett Favre when he took over in Seattle at the end of the 1998 season. Each has ten seasons now without their Hall Of Fame, Super Bowl-winning quarterback. In that span Shanahan has 91 regular season wins. Holmgren has 86. Advantage: Shanahan, right?

then tears it down because Holmgrem "changed the culture" Ok, but Shanahan did not have that opportunity so it proves nothing about Shanahans ability. And the fact is, Shanahan did win more games.

2. I will grant Shanahan wasn't outstanding in the playoffs without Elway. time to find another Elway (maybe Campbell, remember Elway wasn't perfect, after all he tried to take a snap from a guard!)

With Elway, Shanahan’s mean average season record was 12-4. Sans Elway it’s 9-7. I’d rather have a coach that charged full steam into the postseason rather than unceremoniously backing into it.

So with a HOF QB, 12-4, w/o 9-7, what have we been?

4. Not sure I care whether or not Shanahan can win at Arrowhead or Mile High. Maybe a stat about losing at Dallas or Philly, otherwise, meh...

Mike Shanahan can’t draft. ... He hasn’t shown any great propensity for developing young talent either. He is what he is: a decent manager of veteran players. We’re not a veteran team.

Well we are a fairly veteran team, and both BA and Shanahan seem to understand good talent. Now the other part is it sounds like we are bringing in one or more top scouts to help keep the talent stocked.

Capitalism.
Arrowhead used to be famous for its Sea of Red. Lately it’s becoming infamous for its Seats of Red. I know the team is $30 million under the cap. That’s probably a good thing, given how much revenue is lost when those seats go empty more often than not. Consider the general disgust presently pervading the Chiefs fan base. Now consider the current condition of the economy. Now consider how many more seats might go empty if you brought aboard the most hated man in the AFC West. In the Chiefs Nation, Carl Peterson has a higher approval rating than Mike Shanahan. Hell, Scott Peterson has a higher approval rating than Mike Shanahan.

Again, highly pertinent to KC, not so much here. Also Capitalism could be a persuasive argument for him here, he will certainly bring a dynamic offense to Washington, and that WILL fill all those yellow seats at FEDEX.

Well that's my thoughts, but still good article.

He still had an average of 9-7, that seems like success. He had 91 wins in 10 seasons, which is 91 and 69, seems like success.

He went to the playoffs 4 times, seems like more success in 10 years then our last 10 years.

So, maybe he didn't have as much as with Elway, but he did have success.

(maybe Campbell is Elway the 2nd (I love saying that LOL))
