Clausen and leadership have no place in the same sentence. McCoy is arguably a system QB, but i'd take him over Clausen. Tebow's a good value pick later in the draft. Like i said earlier, i dont really like any of these guys. they're all projects and its a waste of a 1st round pick to draft a project QB. Hopefully Shanny can find a QB he likes in the 2nd or 4th.
No, you're right. McShay doesn't know anything. Neither does Mel Kiper who has Clausen rated #4 (Bradford #5) overall. Neither does any of the folks who put together the 177 Mock Drafts on the Walter Football site, which a majority list Clausen in the top 5 picks, many have him # 1.

But that being said, outside of Clausen, I don't like any of the other QBs in this draft in the 1st round. If Clausen is gone, then hopefully we get our coveted franchise LT or are able to get a sweetheart deal to trade down.

Why don't you like Bradford as a first round pick?

General NFL rule #432 - Avoid college spread QB's who worked primarily out of the shotgun like the plague.

Big C and wilso make good points. Oklahoma QB's have put up big numbers and not translated into the pros (Josh Heupel, Jason White). Bradford didn't play particluarly well in the BCS Championship last year. He also doesn't play under center. At #4, his bust risk is too high IMO.

Fair enough to all of you guys. I am wary of his lack of time under center as well. I was just wondering.

I still think Tebow can play in the NFL but he's a two or three year plan, and this team is aging. We need a quarterback who can start week 1 and Clausen seems to be the best option from the draft who can do that.

Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft

Two teams to look at that might decide to trade up for a QB, they both have 2 1st round picks this year Seattle & San Fran both uncertain at QB. We could trade back & gain another draft pick possibly another 2nd round pick.

Alex Smith was already named the starting QB for 2010 in San Fran

Troy Aikman had a good pro career...for the purposes of my argument I'm counting him as a Sooner QB even though he transferred to UCLA

LOL, pre-Stoops doesn't count. I miss the wishbone, it was fun to run.

Only if you were a RB or an offensive lineman. Most QB's and WR's hated it. I know I did.

I played QB, I liked it. But we didn't run it exclusively, I think running it full time would've gotten old.

BTW, that was a nice thread you started early Sun. AM

Hardy Har Har. Thanks!

I ran the wishbone once and hated every minute of it. Most of the teams that I played on afer that ran a version of the I and evolving variations of it. The I was our base formation in high school, but like the NFL we could come out with up to 5 WR sets. I miss the memories of my playing days, but in no way would I want to strap it on now.

Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft

So I've been following McShay, and he thinks now that Anthony Davis, the Tackle from Rutgers is better or could pass Russell Okung come draft time, so skins fans who want okung and think we don't have a shot at getting him, theres still a good chance we could get him or this Davis kid, who they say can play guard if needed. Also Bryan Bulauga from Iowa, they say is not a LT in the nfl, and he's more of a guard or RT, so I think we could probably scratch him off our list.
