No question the Redskins are drafting a QB, no guarantee it will be in the first round.
i heard somewhere that shanahan has an immense amount of confidence in his coaching abilities and drafts players based on their best attributes, while "ignoring" some of their defficiences, because he beleives he can coach them up to be their best all of the time. Its still too early to tell definatively, but he certainly got more out of Jay Cutler than anyone else. That, combined with everything i continue to hear about the QB class, makes me hope with some amount of confidence that we won't take a QB at 4.

I love envisioning trade-down scenarios, but those are just too unpredictable. Assuming we don't make any trades, here's my "Dream Draft" atleast at this early stage in the game:

1st Round - Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers - He's currently the #2/#3 OT on most boards, but he has tremendous upside and could easily surpass Okung and Williams as the draft approaches. Regardless, if we stay at 4, i'm hoping we take the best OT on our board (unless Suh or G McCoy happen to fall. At that point, its a no-brainer that we take either of them)

2nd Round - Tim Tebow, QB, Florida - I know Tebow is pretty raw, but remember what I said about Shanahan drafting based on seeing what a player can do at his best. And before anyone says there's no way we should take Tebow this high - If Devin Thomas was worth taking in the top of the 2nd, Tebow most definately worth the risk. The potential is there. He wouldn't start for atleast 2 years, but could be used situationaly immediately. If Tebow is gone (and I think he probably will be), i'd take Ciron Black, the OT from LSU.

4th Round - RB we've never heard of - You know we're taking one in the 4th.

Are we talking Tafka, Lefevour, Robinson?

Re: Dream Draft

Not to say, YES the REDSKINS SHOULD ABSOLUTELY TAKE TEBOW, or even that they should at all, but the only teams who fit the Tebow profile are teams on offense that 1) are in complete rebuilding and can do completely gimmicky stuff in order to get offensive production out of 11 guys who are essentially system players, and 2) teams with excellent structure and continuity already in place.

I don't know if the Redskins fall in either of those categories, but if we're absolutely determined to spend a top 40 pick on a QB, then we might as well be in full on rebuilding mode. We don't have very many useful parts at critical skill positions.

Shanahan probably isn't gimmicky enough to tolerate Tebow though, so the point is moot. You'd probably have to build primarily from a college playbook to make option 1) work. Option 2) sort of makes itself work.

Re: Dream Draft

(Trade w/Buffalo Bills so they can get Clausen or Bradford) add 2nd Round #41

1st round #8 OT Anthony Davis

2nd Round #37 OT Bruce Campbell (i doubt he will fall to us but he has bad tape out there so if he did that would give us prob the two most athletic Tackles in the draft to run the Zone Blocking Scheme) if not him If not him then OT Jared Veldheer (hope his short arms arent a problem) or OT Jason Fox (needs to get meaner)

2nd Round #41 CB Chris Cook (6'2" 212 physical corner, who is also great against the run and ended up running a faster 40 then anticipated. Good to have physical corners in a 3-4who can press)

(Trade Carlos Rogers to the Lions/Rams/Texans for a 3rd) (Tired of listening to him Run his mouth without backing it up with play. He didnt even try last year cuz he was unhappy and with the tender, hes gonna be unhappy again this year)

3rd Round RB Montario Hardesty (if we can trade with Lions or Rams, if we trade with Texans Hardesty prolly wont be there anymore n in that case RB Ben Tate (not a big Tate fan but we need a RB here)

4th Round#101 FS Kam Chancellor or FS Terrell Skinner (Two local guys that we have prolly scouted extensively. Whichever one of these guys is available here in this order. Let one of these guys go into training camp n battle with Kareem Moore for the starting FS spot, if they lose then they would still be solid special teams players. Whatever it takes to get Laron Landry back to SS)

5th Round#132 OG Marshall Newhouse or OG Ciron Black (competition at the RG spot) or OT Ed Wang (can be coached up)

7th Round#196 DE Clifton Geathers ( 6'7" 300lbs. A good run stuffing 3-4 DE, needs work but what 7th rounder doesnt (excluding marques colston lol) Can swallow up defenders and be a good contributor in a rotation)

Undrafted Rookies

ILB Lee Campbell 6'3" 250

ILB Clinton Snyder 6'4" 240

DT Travis Ivey 6'4" 340 (like to see him at NT, would even risk grabbin him with the 7th pick if we thought he would get drafted elsewhere)

RB/WR LaMarcus Coker (change of pace back if Alridge doesnt work out, plus he's a KR/PR that we desperately need and has even played receiver, versitile and with so few picks and so many holes, gettin some1 who can wear multiple "hats" would be EXTREMELY benefitial.

QB Sean Canfield (I only put this hear for ppl who think we need to bring in a project QB, but he started this offseason as a 3rd/4th round pick, but now has dropped to a 7th or even undrafted. givin him a chance cant hurt for not giving up a pick at all)

In conclusion, this would be my dream draft lol

a dream indeed

there's no way that they'd give up the 6th and 14th pick just for the 4th

I wouldn't think anyways.. it'd def be one balanced towards us

then the 13th and the 17th for the 6th? not likely

you might sucker one of those if they're sold enough on say, Clausen, but you're not duping both I don't think

Re: Dream Draft

I was just listing to Washington Post live and they were saying that we had to draft a LT. I just want it said, we had one of the best LT's every play and we still sucked. If Samuels had ever had a good QB, he would be headed for Canton Ohio. Unfortunately, he played ten seasons with fair to bad QB's. We need to get a QB and build from there.

That draft is very likely actually, and this thread title is Dream draft, meaning draft you wish would happen.
