Oh and this doesnt have anything to do with the draft really but I mentioned it before so just an update, my buddy Andre Davis is apparently still wanting to sign with Washington, not sure it will all work out but hoping it does!

Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions

Well, as to Mallet and "all that money" - yes. as a rookie he gets something you or I would consider obscene BUT relative to others in his professional peer group - not so much. At this point, regardless of where he is drafted, he is not going to be coming in as the "savior" but rather "the project". If we get Paea at 41 (crossing fingers after reading up on him - seems just what we need), and Mallet is in at 49, I wouldn't mind taking a shot at him.

Right now, I just want to get the best run stuffing NT left on the board with one of our two 2nd's.

Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions

I think most of us agree on a QB at 41 (Kaepernick, or Mallet). #49 is a toss up, but I'm thinking if we get a QB at 41, then we'll probably take the best available WR (Little, Hankerson, Smith) and Little IMO, seems like the best out of the 3. There are some good NT's later in the draft, and wouldn't mind a guy like Kenrick Ellis from Hampton (but he might be gone) Kenrick Ellis, Hampton, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com.

We still have needs (CB, C, NT, ILB, OT) after are two picks, but getting a QB and WR adresses two needs.

Listening to sportstalk radio- espn980's Chris Russell thinks Ryan Mallett is the guy.

Kenrick Ellis could be a great pickup. Obviously, i haven't seen much of him, but going from what you hear on the radio he got in some trouble at a big school as a Freshman, transferred played 3 years at Hampton as a model citizen and has been dominant. Don't know any further details.

Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions

Why do people keep thinking Paea's a NT, none of these draft guys say that he'd be good at NT, he's a 4-3 DT people.

This is why I want Dalton and a new Center from Penn State for him in Round 2.

Paea would be a solid NT or 3-4 DE in our scheme. He's listed at 303, which isn't the 320+ you like out of an NT, however he has a high motor, low center of gravity....plus 49 reps in Bench. His scounting reports say he doesn't get moved off the line. The only thing making him drop is the knee.

His skill set sounds very much like prototypical NT.

Wide as a Coke machine and just as difficult to move, Paea (pronounced pie-uh) has developed into one of the nation's best run-stuffers. His development is staggering in the sense that he signed with Oregon State having only played three years of organized football. ... Paea is a bit of a one-trick pony. He isn't agile enough to put consistent pressure on the quarterback at the NFL level. His ability to tie up blocks in the middle will lead teams to look at him closely over the first 50 picks of the 2011 draft no matter what scheme they utilize.
...
Run defense: Is quick enough to surprise his opponent with a burst through the gap, but will make his NFL millions due to the fact that he is a natural run plugger due to his short, squatty build and rare upper- and lower-body strength. Can be knocked off the ball when double-teamed, but flashes the ability to split them and is rarely pushed far before he's able to plant his legs in the ground and create a pile. Doesn't have the lateral agility and balance to beat runners to the sideline, but hustles in pursuit.

Tackling: Stays squared and low to knock down the ballcarrier near the line of scrimmage. Flashes explosive hitting ability, with a proven ability to knock the ball free. Tied the OSU record with four forced fumbles in 2009. Good upper-body strength to drag down ballcarriers as they attempt to go past him. Doesn't have the speed or change of direction to offer much in pursuit.

Stephen Paea, Oregon State, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com

No. He is not 350 pounds of load, but he is a 300 pounder and, from the description of his body type, I bet he could easily add another 20 -30 pounds.

49 reps at 225 don't hurt either

Well I tell all you Skins fans this, no matter what I think of Paea, I'd rather take him over Kaepernick, so if drafting him means we don't get Kaepernick I'll be happy.

Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions

Pick 41 - Dalton (QB) TCU

Pick 49 - Hudson (C/G) FSU

Grossman starts week one, Dalton has a clipboard, and hopefully doesn't have to replace Grossman this season. Hudson starts day one, and Rabach is cut.

Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions

Although, I wouldn't be against getting Little (WR) NC. The more I see of him, the more I see a really top tier WR that is big and can take a hit, a nice commodity. Then we can move Santana to the slot, and be REALLY dangerous.
