Re: Tebow a Jet

Huge mistake for Jets to get Tebow. As soon as Sanchez throws his first dumb pass, the fans will be yelling "Tebow, Tebow". Sanchez will fall apart and Jets will be infighting more than ever.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I think Tebow could end up being a decent QB given the right situation and right coaching. Perhaps never a true #1, but at a minimum a reliable backup. That being said, I don't think that is the situation he is heading into but that was his decision. That locker room will likely blow up by mid-season.

I agree. I think he can be a decent starter. I understand Elway not being sold on him, but I also think elway is likely comparing him too much to nfl prototypes. He may never have a great throwing motion, but who cares if he gets it done?

I'm in total agreement with you. The kid has confidence, and he is very athletic. He needs to be paired with a great QB coach who can develop his skills.

Re: Tebow a Jet

Tebow's accuracy is horrible. He can run out of the wildcat formation and throw on the run pretty well. Does Tebow drop back and pass the ball well? No. Can he run an option play? Yes. What about Tebow's deep pass? I've seen this guy throw some boneheaded passes into great defensive coverage only to have the ball picked off. His Heisman hype followed him from Florida to the NFL. He's a great athlete but he's full of hype.

I agree with most of what your saying, although I think he still deserves to be given a chance to work on his mechanics and get his throwing to an NFL level.
Besides the 4th quarter spectacle he has been worse than mediocre and undeserving of all the hype.
The 4th quarter clutch thing is also largely due to his legs not his arm.
So yeah, I agree nearly entirely hype, but I could still see him starting in the right situation at least just to see if he can continue to somehow win games.

Interesting, perhaps Tebow has a thicker skin than some give him credit for

Re: Tebow a Jet

I guess NYJ needed a [marketable] plan-B even though Sanchez was extended.

New York Jets' Drew Stanton wants out after Tim Tebow deal, source says - ESPN New York

Quote:
Stanton is said to be unhappy because he was promised the No. 2 job and turned down more lucrative opportunities with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs to play for the Jets. He received a $500,000 signing bonus, but he could have a hard time finding a new team because the backup jobs are filling up.
