Well, I'm excited to see Crawford play. He's gonna get schooled here and there, but right now the defense is swarming and playing with intensity. He's in a good situation to sharpen his teeth over the next four games.

I actually take Adderal and it makes me so alert and energetic that I feel like if I was on it my whole life, then I would of accomplished 100% more in life. It's totally ridiculous for these athletes to take it.
You think it gives athletes a competitive advantage like hgh or steroids though?

Well it is considered an amphetamine so it potentially can give someone more energy, longer periods of being 'on' and heightened focus and awareness so comparatively to someone who is not taking it, I can see the competitive advantage.

Here's the ridiculous part about the whole thing, Adderal itself is not banned, but taking it without a prescription from the team doctor is. Guys were talking about it on NFL Radio last week. Seemingly players are trying to skirt the system by going to their hometown docs or college campuses to get the drug because they don't want to go through legitimately getting tested and diagnosed by the team docs for the risk of them not getting the prescription and/or at contract time being considered 'risky' because of the diagnosis.

Either way, it was a completely selfish act by Griffin and very disappointing, especially the timing of it.

Re: Cedric Suspended 4 Games

The question I have is, why do these players keep committing these dumb infractions thinking that they're going to get away with it? I like Cedric Griffin. He's a pretty decent corner and he plays the position better than J. Morgan or D. Hall. It's too bad he's let us fans down and his teammates down. I'm not sold on Richard Crawford replacing him. He had a great preseason against 2nd and 3rd stringers but he played poorly against the Cincinatti Bengals and haven't been seen since the Vikings game. I'm not too confident he can fill C. Griffin's cleats for the remainder of the season.

Probably because more get away with it than don't. And BECAUSE IT WORKS. Those that take PEDs do so BECAUSE THEY WORK.

The NFL loves the Aderal thing lately huh. Makes it look like they're actually testing players and they care about PEDS but catch guys for a basically legal substance that doesn't do much so it doesn't look terrible on the league. Meanwhile half the league's on Dragon Growth Hormone but no one gets
caught. God I love the NFL and America so much.

I think only a small percentage of the players who say the tested positve for aderal are actually on Adderall. The Adderall thing isnt the NFL testing for it - its just become the trendy excuse for players/agents to give to garner public sympathy.

Whoever was talking about it on NFL radio was wrong. Adderall is specifically listed on the NFL's banned substance list, and players generally cant use it even with a prescription from a team doctor. They have to get a special exemption from the league to use it.

Agreed, what sounds better releasing to the fans...

Cedric Griffin suspended after testing positive for steroid use.

or

Cedric Griffin suspended after testing positive for the focus enhancing product Aderal.

Maybe that was a nuance I missed, but that was the general gist of what was being said. That if there is a legitimate NFL approved diagnosis and prescription then it is ok.

Not too smart by the FO to know Cedric was going to be possibly suspended for a good while with Routt out there on the market. Really no logic behind that decision. Crawford is an inexperienced, raw corner who is not a better player than Routt. So there no arguement Crawford is a stronger player, he is clearly not or he'd be at least active for our games.

Well, the only thing we conclusion that we can draw is that the staff didn't feel Crawford was better than Griffin. It is quite possible they consider Crawford better than Routt or any other waiver wire/practice squad options out there.

Honestly, I have no clue as to how he will do. Crawford had some really good plays in preseason but several bad ones once the season started. Were the bad plays the result of correctable rookie errors? Or, once the regular season started, did the speed of the game expose his physical and talent limitations? I am hopeful it is merely the first.

Would be nice if we could hit with one of DB late rounders, but I guess we can't complain too much about that sort of thing in a draft year that nets us Alfred Morris and UFA signing like Forbath.

Maybe, but maybe they believe Crawford can compete. CG was playing at a pretty good level IMO (better than Routt) and probably just kept Crawford off the field.

I like the FO using our drafted talent too.

You have a lot more confidence in Crawford than I do. He looked good in preseason with those INTs but looked like crap against the Cincinatti Bengals receivers. He got burned like Freddy Kruger for a long TD pass. Hopefully, he's been fine tuning his coverage skills in practice since we last saw him against Minnesota.

That was a pretty rude welcome to the NFL (reg season). Green is a superstar and the other guy is pretty good too, plus the the ginger QB gets it done.

I wouldn't put Crawford on Smith this Sunday, but let him work on the other receivers.

But no, I don't have any evidence/info he'll develop over a four game span. Just seems like we're due to have a homegrown DB become a starter

It'll likely be DJ Johnson on Smith.
