We are dangerously thin at inside LB. Could be a serious problem if Fletcher or Riley get hurt. This is where you miss a Lo Alexander.

With Keenan going down, hopefully an unknown like Jeremy Kimbrough can become our next Antonio Pierce. The Jenkins suspension blows my mind though.

I thought te same thing. Now with AC possibly out for the year then we could have afforded Lo if we had cut Carriker.

Stunned that we are losing Jenkins as well, and if it is for something stupid like painkillers then that's pretty dumb. RobJax is being suspended for his use of painkillers. These guys can get a script for those things without any problem.

Could we see both Baker and Nield kept at the beginning of the year with the plan of moving our best NT to DE in Cofield for the first four games?

First one of the "how to stop the read option" articles that I have read that really addresses the offense's innovation in analyzing how to stop it.

The NFL’s Knowledge Gap | The MMQB with Peter King

Quote:
Even so, defenses across the league might still be a step behind. At the college level, Mason has seen offensive coordinators using faster tempos by going no-huddle, and they’re creating ways to make reads off interior defensive lineman, not just edge players. Offensive coordinators in the NFL might use as many as 15 formations with the same personnel grouping in a game, but a defense isn’t going to have as many schemes to confuse an offense. Stopping the read-option is about knowing how and where to line up, and being on the same page about how to attack the formation. One blown gap and Kaepernick is sprinting 60 yards for a touchdown.

“There’s no magic elixir playing against those schemes,” Mason says. “It’s being fundamentally sound in terms of your keys. That’s it. If you don’t understand your fits, or where your eyes go and where your help is, you’re at risk. You’re just out there playing ball, and they’re always going to be one step ahead of you.”

They said all the same things about the Wishbone Offense when it came out .

Goodbye D-Line if this is true. Expect quarterbacks to have 30 seconds in the pocket. Slowly running out of depth.

Are you kidding me? Two DL starters down within the first two days of TC? We have to shake the FA tree at this point. No other option.

It's time for our FO to start cutting individuals that test positive. This has become a trend for this team and we rank near the top in players suspended for failed tests.

Don't go all vinny on us yet. We have Golston, Merling and Cofield who could move to DE on some plays. Also we could bring Worthington back if we want. It is disappointing that Jenkins got suspended but it won't cost us the season.

We are not only team with this "trend" in NFL, Seattle comes to the mind.

Agreed. We have depth along the dine. Baker can play nose and Cofield can slide out to play DE.

At least we have options. But it's still disappointing.

Cofield at DE could be interesting if one of the big guys can handle NT. At least we know to prepare for it.
