Re: Roger Goodell says NFL considering eliminating extra point
This past weekend we saw a big kick return from the Seahawks that completely changed the game.
Against the redskins we saw a lot of big kickoff returns that changed games. What extra point play is comparable to that? |

Re: Roger Goodell says NFL considering eliminating extra point
See this is the point to me. In Highschool we went for the 2 points almost everytime, because we didn't have a kicker that was automatic on PAT's. It was a dynamic part of the game in that instance. In the NFL, however, it is pointless, maybe at one time it wasn't automatic (I don't know) but it is now. That is why I support backing it up for a 35 yard attempt, despite the fact that as a Skins fan it is more than likely to bite us in the ass.

Re: Roger Goodell says NFL considering eliminating extra point
How about making every touchdown worth 7, and a 2 point conversion becomes a one point conversion.
Or make everything worth 6 and teams can only go for 2. Extra Points are just dumb. |

Re: Roger Goodell says NFL considering eliminating extra point
If the league is going to eliminate the PAT then I'd prefer to see them do it completely. No longer kicks or plays. Make TDs worth 7 points and give the other team the ball and keep the game moving.

Re: Roger Goodell says NFL considering eliminating extra point
That would make the game less exciting by 2% right? And less dynamic? Im confused. Goodell is looking to make the game more dynamic and exciting, why do the opposite?

Re: Roger Goodell says NFL considering eliminating extra point
I dont see any of this making the game more or less dynamic, the game is fine as it is.
All this talk is a solution looking for a problem. |

Re: Roger Goodell says NFL considering eliminating extra point
I'm not really for or against the idea. I voted "no" because I feel more like, if it's not adding anything to the game; change it. Make it more difficult.
While we're talking about extra points, I think we should make it so that the defense can score 2 points on the play, as well. Same as college. If you go for 2 and throw a pick, the defense can return it for 2 points; same goes for blocking a kick |

Re: Roger Goodell says NFL considering eliminating extra point
Things that necessarily weren't broke at the time, but were changed to improve the game for safety or entertainment:
Forward passes were once illegal, touchdowns were once 4 points and FGs were 5, horse-collar tackles were legal, before '94 there were no 2 point conversions, sudden death OT came along in '74, before '70 jerseys didn't have player names on them, in '78 a 2nd wilcard team was added, in '74 the goal posts were moved back, etc., etc. Down the road I doubt we'll ever hear anyone say, you know I really miss the PAT. |

Re: Roger Goodell says NFL considering eliminating extra point
why does anyone care about the PAT? The "it's part of the game" reasoning is lazy.
