Re: Week 1 Positives and Negatives

Turnovers were the main reason we lost. You can't give up the ball twice in the redzone and expect to win.

Good notes from Keim on Orakpo's pressure throughout the game.

Under review: Washington Redskins Brian Orakpo's rush - ESPN

They were real killers. 2 great possessions to start the 2nd half, could have easily been 2 big TDs. Instead, nothing. Just absolutely killed us,

Some pictures from /r/Redskins that were shot for the Houston press.

Re: Week 1 Positives and Negatives

For everyone blaming the O-line for everything, here's a play that happens just about every game. Stafford gets pressured immediately, steps up, slides to the left and buys enough time to complete a pass downfield. ALL QBs get pressured constantly, not just RG3:

:58 mark. Nice play by Stafford about :30 into it as well.

Lions vs. Giants full highlights

Polumbus may not be all world, but as Cooley pointed out in his film breakdown yesterday, Robert routinely puts him in bad situations and makes him look worse than he is as a result. Like Zoolander, he can't go left

Re: Week 1 Positives and Negatives

I thought Griffin played well under pressure for the most part. Especially after watching it again. He completed several passes with guys in his face and he did so with accuracy too.

Positives

-Keenan Robinson- He looks like a stud, reminds me of Bobby Wagner from Seattle, the way he can run sideline to sideline, cover, and swarms to the ball.

-Ryan Kerrigan- Forcing that turnover when we HAD to have it, I have said this since his rookie season that I thought he was the better all-around player than Orakpo, even though Rak is the better pure pass rusher.

-Alfred Morris- The butler is a hoss, I think we can put to bed the "system back" thing, if w haven't already.

-Run Blocking- Is it me or does it look like we have a top 3 line when running the ball.

-Andre Roberts- Feels nice to have a return man after all this time, his adjustment to catch that pass from Griffin in the first where he was robbed of the catch was awesome.

-Defense- The defense looked great outside of 1 play, Hatcher looks like a great pickup and Barry Cofield looks like a top 5 NT.

Negatives

-Pass Blocking- I have never seen an O-line so night and day when it comes to pass blocking vs. run blocking

-Turnovers- Can't win games giving up the ball in the red zone.

-Special Teams mistakes- Chris Chester and Roy Helu, that has to be the worst efforts in blocking I have ever seen.

-Robert Griffin III- He doesn't trust his line in pass blocking and rightfully so, but he also looks scared to explode and get to the edges, I don't know what is wrong with him mentally, but we need him to get that back.

-Niles Paul- You are running into the endzone and get stripped from behind on a last ditch tackle that you broke, then say "I guess I have to hold it high anf tight." You guess?????

-The Center position- When was the last time we had a center that didn't get blown up off the ball at least 4 times a game? I think Rabach in 2005.

-Playcalling- I just wish we would have ran the ball a bit more.

Pretty much covered it all. Our punter was better than Sav too.

Here is some good breakdown on the passing game against Houston.

https://twitter.com/MarkBullockNFL/media

Go to the first Texans/Redskins pic and thumb through them in reverse order.

Re: Week 1 Positives and Negatives

Jim Haslett on Bacarri Rambo's play in Game 1:

"He played 54 plays and had two bad plays," Haslestt said. "One happened to be a bad, bad play. It’s unfortunate, because the 52 other plays were darn good ... Eliminate that one from the game and you’d say he played a pretty good game."

Me to Haslett: Give up, Haslett. I'm not buying what you're selling. Rambo is going to take bad angles, miss tackles and give up big plays for as long as you continue to play him. BTW, eliminate one nuclear bomb and it would have been a nice day in Hiroshima.

KI do you give any slack to Rambo since it was Hall who had the blown assignment? Or is it all on Rambo?

Rambo has to make that tackle.

Very true...although Rambo doesn't have to make the tackle if Hall doesn't blow the coverage.

Probably both. In hindsight, if the offense does its business, this missed play by a defense that played well for the majority of the game is not even on our radar.

As I said many times, we don't have a defense like Seattle, which can carry the whole team through a game.

He can't tackle in the open field which makes him useless as a safety. That stands alone, regardless of what anybody else does on any given play. So, no I don't.
