Some have explained it to me that:

1. When Baltimore lost their beloved Colts overnight they were distraught, and they would get Redskins games on TV instead of the Colts, which made them bitter.

2. The Redskins blocked Baltimore for years from getting another franchise.

3. They're Baltimorons . . . Hehehe

While Redskins play Sunday, football-teamless Baltimoreans find little to cheer about No RAH - RAH Here! - Baltimore Sun

Two words: Sunday Ticket.
I have a confession. . . My wife's a Baltimore fan, but what's worse . . .

My new boss . . . Is a Dallas fan.

Now that that's off my chest. I live in Ellicott City, last year. I didn't get a couple games, but. I have so far this year, including this week.

Baltimore has no say in it. It is all on the NFL and who has rights to the TV market.

The local stations used to have their pick of which games they wanted to broadcast. So, you're saying that has been rescinded and the NFL decides what they can broadcast? I didn't know that had changed.

That's true, although the NFL doesn't decide willy-nilly on a game-by-game basis. Instead there is a formula in which the NFL eliminates tv competition for the "home" team yet remains fair to both Fox and CBS.

It happens here all the time, when I get no other game because the Saints are playing, even if on another network. This situation drove me to get Sunday Ticket.

No - the requirements only prohibit broadcasting the Skins game if Baltimore playing at home, at the same time as the Skins.

If the Ravens are playing an away game with an NFC team at the same time the Skins are playing (home or away) an NFC team, Fox will understandably choose to broadcast the Ravens game.

If an AFC team is playing an away game against an NFC team in a game that has playoff ramifications for the Ravens and at the same time the Skins are playing (home or away) an NFC team, Fox will understandably choose to broadcast the AFC v NFC game rather than the Skins.

If the Ravens are playing away games against AFC opponents at the same time the Skins are playing an away game against an AFC opponent, CBS will understandably choose to broadcast the Ravens game.

As far as I am aware -- IN CASES WHERE THE RAVENS ARE AWAY AGAINST AFC OPPONENTS, AND THE SKINS ARE PLAYING AN NFC OPPONENT, THERE ARE NO RESTRICTION PREVENTING FOX 45 FROM BROADCASTING THE REDSKINS GAMES.

If I am wrong, please someone point out the policy.

In this case, the Ravens are away against an AFC opponent and the Skins are playing an NFC opponent. As far as I can tell, this is a discretionary choice by the station.

Ravens game.

There are restrictions. You have to make sure that Fox and CBS get equitable cuts of the pie. If local affiliates just chose to show what they wanted, there'd be no oversight of the Fox-CBS balance. There are too many $$$ on the line for either Fox or CBS to be happy with anything other than a 50/50 balance of games shown.

I'm telling you, it is the same situation in NOLA as it is in Baltimore. And, if you keep the Fox-CBS balance in mind, it is entirely predictable.

Nope that gets blocked too.

People in Fawking HI can watch the Skins vs. Eagles but if you live in Baltimore you are Fawked.

One work around if you are in Harford County with Comcast they get FOX 5. My neighbor has it I will be there to watch the game.

Damn! Are you sure? I live in Queen Anne's County (ES) and I haven't been blocked.

Well, I'm glad you'll be watching this week at your neighbor's place.

Look at the 506 map you should be fine. My buddy is from Kent Island and he said most folks are Skins fans there; especially when growing up.

Perhaps you should consider packing up everyone in the family truckster and move the hell out of Dundalk....Joe
Move to like...Potomac. You can probably get Skins games reliably there...HTTR

It's one thing to be a hard ass. I think it's off the charts another to put out for public consumption that a coach doesn't care about the severity of an injury, and further says don't ask me those type questions about any injuries ever.

Re: Skins vs Eagles Pre Game Thread

I don't disagree at all with that point. But my point simply is that guys do change styles, and perhaps Kelly wil learn too.

The cold indifference to the nature and severity of the injury -- and it does come across that way -- is not going to endear him to guys in the locker room. And that matters.

Re: Skins vs Eagles Pre Game Thread

i didnt hear the audio but im not interpreting it as kelly being uncaring as much as he doesnt want to know certain info so he doesnt have to talk/disclose certain info ... i could totally be wrong as i would have to hear the audio.

i believe nfl teams have to disclose a certain level of info re injuries on a weekly basis (i.e. pats sayins player X has a body injury ...) but if i was a coach, the less i know the less i dislcose the less i have to talk to the media about

Maybe, but I'd be surprised if the rules that govern disclosures of injuries and player status are dependent upon the head coach's personal knowledge of the nature and extent of the injury. Seems like that would allow for the rule to be rendered meaningless pretty easily.

He may have just meant that he doesn't get into the gory details with the trainers and physicians -- he just wants to know what he can expect from the player. Or he may be a complete jerkweed. Since I cannot stand the Eagles, I prefer to think the latter.
