The Redskins could choose to allocate that money elsewhere in 2015 and pay OLB Ryan Kerrigan handsomely while developing second-round rookie Trent Murphy as Orakpo's heir.

Yeah he's really going to have to get on a big tear to get a new deal deal here.

Meanwhile Kerrigan is proving to be the man.

Kerrigan has been a beast so far. That Jacksonville game really inflated his stats, but he brings the pressure every game. He and Hatcher are driving the defense.

And I love Orakpo, but man, he's digging himself into a hole. He hasn't been pass-rushing as much as I thought he would, plus he's playing injured, but I'm tired of making those excuses for him. If he wants to get paid here, he needs to produce... period. No matter what.

At least Rak hasn't been making any lame excuses for himself. He's stood up and said that there are no excuses and that he has to play better.

It looks like Rotoworld broke the code. Orakpo is not going to get a big FA contract from the Skins or anyone else. He has peaked as an NFL player.

Oh someone will pay him. Maybe not what he wants, but he'll get paid.

Safety Ryan Clark: "Guys weren't content with losing, but they were excited that they fought."

As I interpret this, with our moral victory against Seattle, that improves our season record 2-0 in the mythical moral victory standings. We now have moral victories over Philly and Seattle. I predict yet another moral victory over Arizona which will make our moral victory record against good teams 3-0.

I think we fans should be as excited as the players are about our team having so much fight in them.

Or, we could take a negative approach and say that the players don't even buy into the goal, which is winning the game. If some of the key the players think it's rewarding just to appear to be competitive, then I don't know what the coaches can do to make things better.

Good post.

Fuck this team. I am suppose to give a shit about a team that doesn't even give a shit about themselves. Fuck them.

That's how I feel. Why should I care about the team when the folks on the field care about nothing but the after party?

This team will not win until it has more leaders who hate losing.

With rare exception, players don't like losing. But they have to move quickly on to the next game

OK. Fair enough. But we seem less than energized on the field, so rumors of a limp locker room appear to make sense.

On the money.

Of all the guys Reid could "call out" he picks the two guys who I saw battling on every play. There were others but Garcon and Williams put in maximum effort. Hell, Trent was questionable and played his ass off dealing with knee pain.

Those guys played through the whistle with fire in that game. They don't have to sulk after leaving it all on the field to get Jason Reid's approval.

They can want to win all they want but I dont think that would matter. There isnt nearly enough talent on this team.
Not enough talent + no desire = a hot mess.

Re: Skins vs Seasquawks Positive and Negatives

Very troubled by the apparent indifference to losing among some players, although I cannot believe that it is pervasive through the locker room. You don't get to be good enough to play in the NFL without a lot of sacrifice and a real competitive streak. That isn't to say that folks can't get complacent with the "hey, I am a professional getting a paycheck" mentality. But there are some guys I cannot imagine bieing OK with losing.

I had a lacrosse coach years ago that sat some starters when he thought there was some of this crap seeping into the locker room culture (our team was not competitive in more games than I care to recall); it wouldn't break my heart of Gruden did too.

Re: Skins vs Seasquawks Positive and Negatives

that great quote from lombardi comes to mind.

i dont mind the loose locker room after a loss. its not the cause of our problems, its just a symptom.

i dont blame trent or garcon or anyone else who has been here to become immune from losing.

we lose and we lose well and often damnit.

Didn't Lombardi also say, "Show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser"? Well....

Re: Skins vs Seasquawks Positive and Negatives

When I am able to pick out individual players who are hustling, as I was against Seattle in the first half, then we have a a problem. Somehow, we were not ready to play and they put up a quick 14 points on us - Game Over! BTW, Ryan Clark was one of those who hustled against Seattle. I think he was just trying to cover for other players in his comments.

Anyway, I hate interviews with losing players. I'm not listening to anything more that anybody in the Redskins organization has to say until we get a win.
