Offseason Roster Moves Thread
Quote:
The difference between TE FA and the OL FA, is that we largely have our OL onboard and largely in place. Rehire TW, Scherff & Flower. Martin played well at the end of a lost season, so he’s ready to challenge Moses for his spot. We still need to draft or acquire more OL talent. The TE players position needs to be rebuilt from the ground up. Reed and Davis gone. I’m not even sure if the guys we used this season can even be salvaged for depth. We need an excellent, young, BIG and who can catch the rock in the end zone and block. We will have to pay to get the right guy, but Reed and Davises cap will bank it. Right now the TE is a black hole in our offense that can only be fixed by $$$FA. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: Offseason Roster Moves Thread
I read in a so called NFL Draft publication when analyzing/rating TE’s said, “Pure blocking tight ends can be found later in the draft and don’t often get scouting profiles.”
When I went to other 2020 draft talent evaluators when talking about TE’s it was all about receiving. Barely no mention about blocking skills or no mention at all. It would seem there might be a few strong blocking TE’s that we’re trapped in a shitty offense/QB in college and were never given the chance to be targeted in his offense. We need to find a few of these guys and develop them. Being a good in line blocking NFL TE is a god given talent. Coaching blocking technique helps improve a blocker, but you cannot teach a Jordan Reed like TE who was not even a good blocker in college become capable of blocking NFL LB’s and DL. |

Yeah, we need an elite TE FA and I would be surprised if we DON’T get one in the FA period. A big target for Haskins in the red zone.

Re: Offseason Roster Moves Thread
I like the logic of signing Hooper or Henry if available and drafting a blocking TE from a run based college, on the basis you get a blocking TE who might turn into a good receiver.
Curious though, we don't see many projects like Gates any more; trying out non-football athletes. Are NFL teams abandoning that kind of thing now? |

The Titans have 4 solid TE’s on their roster. I would enquire about a trade to get Delaney Walker (currently on IR) when healthy he’s a beast. 6’0 240lbs.

Re: Offseason Roster Moves Thread
I want a 3 down TE and I'd prefer Hooper. But I'd gladly take using our 2nd or 3rd pick on one too.
I believe Turner already said TE will be big part of the offense. I think Sprinkle is definitely good enough to stick on the roster as a 3rd TE. So we need 2 more. Don't really care about how we getting them as long as one of them is a legit 3 down player.

Re: Offseason Roster Moves Thread
Can still play, would be good for a 1 year veteran mentorship to the young guys.

Re: Offseason Roster Moves Thread
We need some TE FA help. This offense can’t move forward without it. Get the best FA TE (Hooper), Draft TE this year with our third round pick and keep Sprinkles to see if he can be coached up,

Re: Offseason Roster Moves Thread
For those who say there are no TE prospects this year:
Cole Kmet, Thad Moss, Hunter Bryant, Jared Pinkney, Adam Trautman, Harrison Bryant... this TE class is sneaky good. Remember Kittle was a 5th rounder.
