Re: Week 1 - Post-game Thread

I don't know if was just me but with Fitzpatrick in there the offence looked exactly like last years. The hope was that with a better QB it would somehow be much better. But I cannot see it. I had no confidence they would get a first down, let alone score in the red zone. Things only started to get better once Heinicke started to improvise when under pressure. It is early, but after so many years of losing there is it seems always more heightened expectation and enthusiasm at the start of the season, "this year we will be relevant", so the let down when they revert to form is so much the greater.

Week 1 - Post-game Thread

As I said in the gameday thread we did not score enough points to win. Our defense also choked in pressure situations. Drives after scores, third downs. Basically both sides of the ball let us down. So did Ron by punting the ball at their 40 with six minutes left down by 4. That is awful. So did Scott Turner - every time I watch this guy call a game I ask myself if he would be in the league without his last name - resounding no.
The only thing we are clinging to right now is “it was game one, and they are a good team”. They also are playing game one and traveled across the country. What will the excuse be when we lose to the Giants? Because we are going to lose to the Giants.

One more thing….our oline is shit. I had a very bad feeling about it going in. So is our secondary. They looked like chickens with their heads cut off. Completely confused. Our coaching staff is not very good. Unfortunately it is the best we can ever hope to get here. It is not really a mystery as to why we are stuck in a perpetual cycle of poor to mediocre play.

My hopes were up (as always) because I figured if last years team could win 7 this team could win 10. However in the back of my mind I knew this year’s schedule was tougher, now throw in Fitz injury- doesn’t sound like a little injury (its the hip and he is older) Leno not looking like any sort of protection and oh boy. I also said more than once that if we lost to the Chargers we were in for a long year with 8 wins being our ceiling. I think 6-7 is more realistic.

Nobody talking about how Notevenclosekins changed the game for the worse again. I mean how bad can someone be and seemingly not ever have their job security threatened?

First of all that's a terrible nickname - step your insult game up. Secondly other than the 50 yarder he did a good job - the XP was fine and his first 3 kicks were all fine. I'm not gonna pick on him for missing a 50 yarder.

Agree, Hopkins showed up yesterday.

O has the advantage in the first few weeks very little film footage for Ds to scheme against. chargers are a good young rising team with a leader at QB, this was going be a dog fight.

I am not overly upset few plays and calls and it could have been our day. We didn't have a GB outing.

This team needs a franchise QB; i be interested in Watson if they come to a conclusion on his tug jobs. I give up Chase young for him and some number ones.

I would still picked Chase over herbert/ tau at the time of the draft. chase was the sure bet.

We know what watson can do at the time of the draft herbert/tau were still question marks.

We tend to on times here make statements with the power of hindsight.

If you have to try too hard to come up with an insult, you've already lost.

What QB would come to the WFT. We are a qb injury factory. I don't know the stats but our starting qbs must get injured at a way higher rate than other teams.

Re: Week 1 - Post-game Thread

No offense allowed a lower pressure rate (12%) than the Chargers in Week 1.

I'm still baffled at the QB mismanagement of this franchise

If you are saying we should have taken Herbert instead of Chase…you are 1000 time correct. If you disagree you are wrong period

Would we have taken Herbert or Tua. Probably Tua.
