Rick Moranis has moved on to better things
Gmanc, maybe you can lay some of these tracks on your next highlights video!

Re: Did Gibbs Make the Wrong Call?
I can't believe it's Wednesday, and people are still whinning about this stupid 3rd and 2 call. It was the right call, case closed. Let me put it in perspective. Which would you rather do. Force your offense to go up against the # 1 defense in the league? Or allow your defense, which happens to be one of the better defenses in the league, go up against a young inexperienced quarterback? Honestly, if you're a coach in that situation, it's a no-brainer call. You run on 3 and 2. This isn't playstation or Xbox.

Your kidding right? How can anyone say giving an offensive opportunity to the opposing team is the right move? Did you watch the game? Did you see at that point they were pretty much doing whatever they wanted to us in the air? Did you notice our big time defense isn't so big time with player's like Griffen and Taylor out? I can't figure out why anyone would say running there is the right call? We are horrible running the ball in short yardage situations, the right move is to go to your strength in that situation, what did running the ball accomplish? Nothing! A first down was needed other wise Tampa gets the ball back with enough time to go down the field regardless. If you think the defense is that great then why not take a chance at doing what we do best rolling out with a short passing game, if it fails let the defense bail us out? Either way the defense still has to make a stop. Bottom line loser's leave the game up to chance, any time you run a series of play's on offense as we did you leave yourself open to the possibility of a big play from the opposition, Gibbs went into scared mode on that last series instead of attack mode. If we were up by 2 scores it's a different story. If we had a good short yardage running game I would have no problem with the call, but can anyone remember the last time we were able to run the ball when the defense knew it was coming? Relying on your defense in situations like that is a last resort, kind of like taking knee with time on the clock to rely on a 50 yd field goal, both should be relied upon only if all else fails. |

And what do you think you're doing by passing it on third down and throwing an incompleting pass? Or worse, throwing an INT that is returned for a TD. Yeah, tha'ts definitely better. :yeahright Quote:

What does that have to do with us running it on 3rd down? Quote:

[QUOTE=skinsguy]No, I'm being sensible.

I don't no what to tell you exept I think you learned football in the twilight zone somewhere. I know your struggling hard for contradiction's but trust me there are none other than hilousanations in your mind. So throwing wouldn't have worked even though running on the #1 defense against the run would have? Our weekest strength against their strongest strength, always a good matchup. Further more a role out would have taken advantage of the over pursuit of Rice, in case you didn't notice it worked earlier in the second half. Point out to me the short yardage runs we have made over the last year and a half in crucial situations goal line, and with the game on the line, I find it pointless to look for something that's just not there even though you say it is, please enlighten me. Bears, philli, Tampa, the second dallas game last year, the opening game against tampa last year, just off the top of my head are all games we gave the ball back when a simple first down would have iced the game when a team was within 1 score of tying, or beating us. Didn't we winde up giving the ball back to Dallas the last time we played them with our big comeback? |

Re: Did Gibbs Make the Wrong Call?
We ran on the #1 run defense all day long and we did it far better than any team had done all season long.
And what's a hilousanation?...Offiss "hilousanating" while constructing another deep thought

That is why your argument is a weak one at best. You can't come up with anything that has to do with the present season to fully support your argument. It's last year this, last year that. The only people who care about last year are the ones who live by the old saying, "misery loves company." They haven't got the strength to put down last season and move forward.
