Never positive when contract negotiations are discussed with the media.

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread

We wouldn't be discussing his contract now if he just said no comment.

I think you're a little delusional because you don't see things for what they are. And you like to put words in people's mouths that no one said. And you like to bring up hypotheticals that never happened.

Of course it's a big topic... But you just said this:

So if he just said no comment all year, you really think his contract would be a non-issue right now?

I think you're delusional for seeing things that aren't there (how you like me now was a problem? Really?), and you don't seem to understand that yes, hypotheticals never happened. That's why they are hypotheticals.

I just don't think you're starting on the same level of understanding.

I don't you'll ever get there with the "no comment" argument.

But let me help you out with the hypotheticals comment I made- you like to do things like bring up and discuss hypotheticals. My point is - there is no point. What's the point?!? - it didn't happen.

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread

okay..so we tag him for 2017 and have same results..great stats but fails to reach playoffs and has those oh no moments in the big games..so WHAT THEN?? If we lock him up long term deal and same happens..are we not screwed long term?? You have to decide is Kirk the reason we were close or the reason we missed playoffs. I gotta tell you guys His bad play against Giants cost us playoffs..the D held them to 13 points!! are we to give a QB 25 million who can't in his biggest game put up 14 points? at this point to sign him because we don't think we can find another QB is not wise..Dallas found Prescott ..we got Cousins in 4th round. We need to be sure about this long term deal. also is it me or does Kirk act like he really could care less if he plays here or not.For goodness sakes he made 20 million this year..thats a long ways from the mess of qb he was just a few years ago..

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread

Never positive but in this case I don't see anything negative either. Certainly nothing to hold against him is my point.

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread

The only thing I don't like that kirk has said is when asked if he wants to be back his response Is always the same "that's not up to me" reminds me of KD leaving okc, he never was truly committed.. I guess we'll find out soon if kirk wants to be here.

Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread

Thus my comment of being delusional. The what-if-this-happened scenarios are fantasy.

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread

I think feeling like resigning Cousins or letting him go and using the 20-25 million on other positions are both valid arguments. So people can civilly disagree. You can make points on both sides.

My position is if you get him for 20 million or less you resign him, if not franchise him and let him walk after next year if he still won't sign for 20 million or less (unless he improves then possibly the money can go up).

I'd start working on a backup plan for 2018 now. I wonder how much Nate Sudfeld can improve in 1 year. If he doesn't improve, we might see another mid round pick spent on a qb.

My solution is - sign Cousins to a long term deal with the possible option of trading him. This buys time indefinitely to actively find another QB or to see if Cousins gets to the next level.

Either way, it's a win-win for the Redskins and also for Cousins.

If he has some choking games again next year and is getting towards 30 years old, would we be able to find a team that would want to trade for him if his salary is say 24 million? That's the only thing I'd worry about in this scenario.
