Someone on Hogshaven just pointed this out:

I have no idea if true RT @coltsinsider – #Colts have reached out to Luck camp & begun negotiations in earnest. Luck’s uncle is his agent.

Do you think the colts are willing to risk taking RGIII, in order to trade him to us for luck plust some later picks? Does SS know if anything is actually known, but noone is letting it out that the colts are OFFICALLY taking Luck?? and this is just not the media trying to make it like the manning/rivers deal

Sorry, Just waking up, so I hope I explained it well enough.

I thought we already went over this insanity. A team isn't going to draft a person they don't want in hopes of leveraging some team to give them draft picks.

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft

Seems more like someone, either Wilbon or a Colts employee (read NFL employee), is trying to build up the hype for this years draft. Still I just don't see it. Especially with these pictures floating around the net

I don't think Griffin would have shown up if he wasn't sure that the Colts would be selecting Luck. If he goes to a similar show in Indy to sign helmets then let me know but until then it's pretty much decided.

Just curious, how do you negotiate when theres a rookie wage scale?

Wilbon stole information from a person's article and didn't give credit.

Cosell Talks: It’s Not Always Luck : NFL Films Blog

Greg Cosell of NFL films currently broke down RGIII and Luck and he came away with the feeling that RGIII was better in the pocket than Luck. This is a great read and I suggest Skin fans (and other NFC East fans so you can see your demise coming) read it.

Quote:
Two other traits really impressed me in evaluating Griffin. The first was his patience and composure in the pocket. He did not move when the bodies started closing it down. He threw effectively out of what we call a “muddied” pocket”. He did not need much functional space to deliver the ball with velocity and distance. Surprisingly, in my 5 game breakdown of Luck, he exhibited a tendency to move too quickly, to leave the pocket too early. The result was often a positive because of his athleticism and ability to throw on the run, but I am very anxious to chart this element of his game in the NFL.

The second characteristic of Griffin’s play that stood out, and projects very well to the NFL, was his ability to throw from different platforms, or more descriptively, arm angles, and remain accurate. It’s especially important given his 6’3” height, an inch or two shorter than would be considered ideal for an NFL quarterback. I’m certainly not suggesting Griffin is the equal of Aaron Rodgers at this point, but that attribute has helped elevate Rodgers to elite status.
Quote:
The bottom line in my 5 game film evaluation: Griffin is a superior arm talent and natural passer than Luck

Well it's my understanding the rookie wage scale is just a guideline for what they should be payed according to draft slot. Teams still have to negotiate contracts with the rookies. But I think there is an actual cap on how much money you can distribute to your rookie class, and that factors into it as well.

We've already given up enough picks as it is. I think we'd be very happy with either guy.

That said, Colts are taking Luck.
