@incarceratedbob is breaking a few of these. He's normally good for some stuff.
No idea. Sometimes, because I spend just about every working day of my life surrounded by sports news and info, I like to just "get away from it all." So for the past three days-other than stumbling across the Dennis Dixon news and Sean Payton potentially to Fox Sports-I have been totally out of the loop, on purpose. Just needed some time away from sports for a minute. A few more days and I'll get back in it. Right now though, I'm all about old school re-runs on Antenna TV

Don't blame you. Enjoy that time off.

For St. Louis sake Mike Wallace isn't worth the number 6 pick.

Exactly! I swear, sometimes teams seem to forget that the f*cking Pats are perennial contenders, yet teams make these ridiculously one-sided deals with them that gives them players for nothing (Welker) or picks (the Seymour trade).

Miami got a 2nd rounder for Welker when they got him for free basically. Only team that hands the Pats one sided deals are the Raiders.

They had no trades with the Pats that I know of. The Pats got a 2nd rounder from the Chiefs for Cassell.

miami got a 3rd rounder, which is rediculous. I'd rather have 3+ seasons of 1000+ yards and 100+ catches than a 3rd round pick. regardless of what miami paid to get him, they're still on the stupid side of that trade.

Without Tom I don't know if Welker would be have been this good.

Actually, they got a 2nd rounder AND 7th round selection for Welker from the Pats.

How Patriots grabbed wide receiver Wes Welker from Dolphins - The Boston Globe

Quote:
The Dolphins were amenable, shipping Welker to the Patriots for second- and seventh-round draft choices.

Wes Welker Stats - New England Patriots - ESPN

At the time of the trade, Miami made out like a bandit.

Look at his numbers in Miami the two years.

2005-----29 recs 434yards
2006-----67recs 687 yards

Getting a 2nd and 7th rounder for a guy that only produced those kinds of stats is a work of genius really. Especially for a undrafted free agent.

Smart teams make system specific personnel moves not based on the players previous production with their former team.
Smart teams make value based decisions based on thier projection for the player in their system for his defined role.

This is why most of the players that Vinny Cerratto signed through free agency didn't work out because of this very reason. While Cerratto did have some talent at scouting and selecting young players in the draft at times, his eye for free agent talent was extremely poor because he only saw how that particular player performed in his initial system and not how that player WOULD perform for us. This why Adam Archuletta, Brandon Lloyd, and so many others that he signed through free agency didn't turn out well.

I would say that Lloyd didn't work out because of his attitude, not scheme fit.

But you are spot on about Arch Deluxe.
