Kirk doesn't have a noodle arm, but his arm strength isn't towards the top either. No one doubts his ability to take a 5-7 step drop and heave the ball downfield to an open D-Jax. We've seen him do it.

But there are other routes, especially crossing patterns where the QB has to get the ball to the WR with a lot of zip not because it is a deep pass but because of the route, and the coverage and the fact that the catch will be made with the WR running towards the sideline with little room to get feet down after the ball hits his hands.

He simply doesn't have the zip on his throws that elite arm-strength QB's do. It doesn't negate everything else about him it's just simply an observation.

"Elite arm strength QB's" any better than "elite quick release qb's", "elite read the field qb's" or "elite stay healthy qb's"? Granted one who has it all is the undisputed king. However I think its silly to suggest that being in the middle of the pack for any one of several categories that make up a good qb is even an issue. If KC had a noodle arm than it would be worthy of discussion. Although i seem to be very involved with what i deem an un worthy discussion so.....

Watch Joe Montana run the west coast offense.. Strong arm is overrated.

Not to mention Montana was surrounded by hof talent on both sides of the ball. Amazing what personnel in a TEAM sport will do. If Joe Montana was getting his first crack at starting with last years or this years Skins team we would have a "who is Joe Montana" thread.

SM will benefit KC in the off season in the same way. It will be fun to see the change.......

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?

I'm about to go to sleep while lying on Kirk's floor looking up at his ceiling.

I agree that Kirk is probably scheme and personnel dependent. But that works for me because he is good in the scheme we run and SM will continue to upgrade the personnel.

I'd like to suggest a simple test to determine if Kirk should be our guy moving forward. The test is: Observe how he performs in the next three games with the division title on the line. That should tell us what we need to know.

I just cant believe the double standard. I believe JC was a check down QB and people screamed at him yet KC is doing the same thing and most people are praising him. He reminds me of Chad Pennington smart QB arm not strong enough and looks like an NFL QB. I hope we don't make the same mistake Miami made with Tannenhill and sign KC to a stupid contract extension. Everyone is entitled to there opinion and our best QB doesn't dress on Sunday. Please come up with something better than is that Griffin must be Griffin typing that. Sheep.

Dude you gotta stop. You reaalllly have to stop. When Griff gets let go after the season and some team takes a waiver on him - and he doesnt start there either what will you say? Do you honestly think Robert Griffin will be a starting qb in this league ever again?
JC sucked. JC got nervous in big situations. Deer in the headlights. Cousins thrives in those situations. See the Eagles game, the Bucs game, the Giants game. JC did not run a wco. He checked down out of pure panic. Cousins runs a wco. It is how it is designed to run.

I agree JC sucked but he's checking down like KC and you are loving it. KC is a .500 QB at best he's a backup IMO. See that's your problem I tell you its my opinion and you want me to think like you. The only QB we have on our roster that ever put fear in an opposing teams Defense was RGIII KC does not do that. We have been a bad team for the last 20 years and now we get happy when we are close to being .500.

I dont care if u think like me or not. This is a team sport. Its not about one guy. If u think KC is a backup than u r not really paying attention to this team or the league in general.

Not sure if you are aware but it is not 2012 anymore. In a few days it will be 2016.

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?

forest or trees...I just see reality. Right now, we have zero options other than Cousins and he has played well enough to be retained to an average NFL starters contract.
