Yeah, lot of panties bunched now that they can't make fun of us for making it rain, so they have to attack from a different angle.

Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
When you look at he weak UFA class this year, it just makes sense that many teams will be stongly considering making trades to improve their teams. We don't have enough draft picks to pull off many, if any, significant trades, so I think the FO may need to take a cold, hard look at which players they could make available in the right trade. I'd think that the following players could be valuable trade chips.
Andre Carter - He had a very good year in 2009 and he could help a 4-3 team. He didn't fare well as a 3-4 linebacker with the 49'ers, which is how we got him to begin with. Chris Cooley - I did say a cold, hard look. With the development of Fred Davis, Cooley could be traded. He would have high value to the right team. LaRon Landry - I think he's not much better than average as a FS but he is very valuable as a SS. We have two players who can do a good job at SS and we have two decent prospects at FS. If we were to trade Landry, I think we'd need an experienced FS in the short term, which we should be able to acquire. Santana Moss - If he stays, I think he'll be moved to the slot and he'll play fewer snaps. He's still a very good WR who could start for a lot of teams. Carlos Rogers - First of all, he doesn't want to be here. Beyond that, he's a starting CB in this league who would have good trade value. I'm not knocking any of these players. The question is "Do we need starters at other positions more than we need them"? We really need a solid LT, for example. |

so, who is "santana89" on the warpath? Anyone who is members of ES and the warpath who actually prefers the ES has got something seriously wrong with them.

Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
im not upset with the way things are going. honestly, outside of dansby and peppers, there wasnt great talent.
i cannot find myself to be upset that we didnt sign pashos, who couldnt play his way into a starting job on the 49ers O line. i was warming up to the dansby idea with his experience as an inside 3-4 LB but foote, if signed, brings that same experience. i thought chad clifton was the best OT in FA, but i wouldnt give him what the packers did. While i think there is a drop in talent from clifotn to the next guy, that drop off is really marginal. outside of peppers, there wasnt a real impact player available in FA imo. dunta robinson? know his name and hype, but i havent really watched him play to make an opinion of him. would signing pashos really help anything? idk, he signed for a fairly cheap deal but who here can honestly say you watched enough film of him to know if he could even start for our O line and be an upgrade? there just is not alot of talent in FA this year with the RFA tenders.

Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
yean i guess any guy who made an NFL roster is talented.
honestly i dont know anything about hicks except for what i read in the articles after we signed him. i will read with sinicism to anyone on here who says player X (like hicks, pashos, etc) should have been signed and would be a starter on our O line. what do we really know about these guys outside of ESPN's ranking of the top FA o lineman available in FA? id trust shanny, allen and co. to make actual talent evaluations outside of matt mosley's player rankings.

Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
It's an interesting time to be fiscally responsible, since we apparently we have the 4th lowest payroll right now, and have an uncapped year where we could be crazy and sign ALL the FA's on the market without much problem.
BUT I like the decisions made so far because they seem -- smarter. Now, I'm still concerned for the O-line, but at least that has been focus so far. I wouldn't have minded overpaying for Pashos or Clifton on a year like this, but they've made a strong statement with their moves. I'm hopeful there's a plan with the draft and picking up stop-gap veteran O-linemen somewhere later as well. I just hope is that come September 2010 our QB is not staring at the clouds on his back. |

What about Montre Holland the OG from Dallas we're trying to score? Y'all trying to tell me he's not better than Will Montgomery? He wouldn't give Dock a run for the money?
