has a link to a WP article as well. cutting wynn would have saved 396k last year. he has a 500k roster bonus in both 2006 and 2007 and he converted 2.835mill from salary to SB in 2005 (this offseason during the cap crisis).

Re: The Moves We Should Make Next Year (merged)

Code:
Player Lgth	Sal	SB	OB	Total
Renaldo Wynn	6	$7,690	$6,335	$1,000	$15,025
----Converted $2.835M from 2005 salary to SB/Readjusted 2006 & 2007 salary
----and Added $500K RB in 2006-2007
so... here's the before an after breakdown on his contract:
Code:
	pre-restructure post-restructure
total	6 years/$15.025/$3.5	6 years/$7.69/6.335
2006	1.5?/0.583SB 1/1.528SB/0.5roster
2007	3.5?/0.583SB 2/1.528SB/0.5roster

? = best guess from memory...

Re: The Moves We Should Make Next Year (merged)

best super-stud FAs:
CB clements
DE freeney

the colts probably aren't letting freeney go, so that's not happening. clements could be signed, and that'd probably be a good idea. I don't know where we're going to get our pass rush from though. maybe we'll draft posluszny or one of the 4 1st round DEs (gaines adams, quentin moses, etc) for that...

as far as our roster, it depends on how the season ends and whether gibbs is back. i really wouldn't keep saunders around though, not unless he decides to stop insisting that his way will work when it hasn't come close yet. letting bill musgrave go was probably a mistake.

guys i wouldn't mind seeing let go:
coaches: saunders, some of the extraneous staff (what does don breaux DO anyways?)
QB: brunell, collins
HB: duckett
CB: rumph (dude sucks)
K: Hall, Novak (unless there's really no better option)
P: Frost (there will ALWAYS be a better option)

resignings: (if they can be retained fairly cheap, they have more value to the skins than anyone else)
HB: betts
LG: dockery

unfortunately, there's not much flexibility in who can be released. the guys that haven't stepped up (arch, carter, etc) are no gos cap wise, and some expensive parts won't save money. ditching guys like wynn and daniels would save money, but some kind of replacement needs to be lined up first, or else our TERRIBLE pass rush will get EVEN WORSE. 2008 might be a long year :/.

oh yeah, i need a clarification on vincent. did we get him on waivers, or as a FA? I assume since the difference was 4 days (less than 1 week) we probably got him with his old contract... which would mean he'll be ~1.4mill in 07 and 1.5m in 08... which makes his total time on the roster less certain.

I think he was released outright, but I'm not certain.

WAIVER WIRE. Generally, any released player with four (4) or less credited seasons is placed on waivers at 4 PM on the date he is officially released, if said release is before 4 PM. Any team can submit claims for any of the recently waived players (note a released player with more than 4 credited seasons is deemed to be "released" rather than "waived"). When a player is claimed by more than one team, then the team with the worst record in the 2005 NFL regular season will be awarded the player (and assume the provisions of his contract). If the 2005 records of two or more clubs who claim the same player are identical, then additional tie breakers are used to determine to which team the player is allocated. Note if a team is awarded a player, then the club will most likely have to release a player currently on their roster in order to not exceed the previously noted 53 man roster limit.

so yeah, he was released outright and canuck's info must be a best guess. he still hasn't given rocky any signing bonus yet... poor rocky .

Green is 36, just had his head torn off and is about to be benched for the rest of the season.

He will be a #2 at best next year.

With Saunders here, why would he not come?

Saunder's offense is the offense that made Trent Green.

I think Mike Martz might be a head coach again somehwere and depending on where he goes it wouldn't surprise me to see him bring Trent Green

Green is not a #3 qb. He only led the nfl in offense the last 5 years and really showed no signs of his age. #3???? He's a starter.

How is he doing this year?

36 and not getting younger.

Look at the 32 starting QB's in league who would start him over?

How about Miami? They benched their 29 year old banged up QB.

Maybe, Oakland but he would last one set of downs behind that O-line.

I don't see Trent Green starting anywhere next year.

are you kidding? i'd start him over losman, harrington, kitna, johnson, and walter at least. he's not a #2 at best, he's a #1.
