The only thing he has going for him is that 1 MONSTER season he had, and the fact that he's still young.
I'm just saying the recent events of Vick have raised his stock, since there is one more buyer on the market. Obviously, if your released your not going to be commanding serious capital.

But he's probably the best thats out there.

I can understand that point. I'm sure Culpepper's agent has called several times to Atlanta.

It's not probably by the way, there is no one out there better than Culpepper, and absolutely no one out there with better potential.

Look at us...we called for Arch's head when he was under performing...should we have given him another year?

For those of you who think we shouldn't pick him up, look at his stats, especailly his comp% numbers. This is a guy that WILL rebound.

I agree. The guy has a great shot at coming back strong. Pick him up, Skins.
Listen to me: tie Gibbs to chair until Brunell's out the door.

I think if this was 2 weeks ago you'd be spot on. Now, though, It's Atlanta 1 with Jacksonville a distant 2 (if for no other reason than to stay in Florida because he would be the 4th best QB on the team). I doubt he plays backup outside in a cold city. If not Atlanta, I expect him to wait for a preseason injury. He foresees himself as one of the top QB's in the league and I would think he'd rather sit a season than play second.
The reason I kept Jacksonville as a first option even with Vicks indictment is simple Dante is his own agent so he's going to go where 1 he wants, 2 pays well 3 can start.

In jacksonville you have 2 Qb's on their last year contract meaning he can ask for a bigger contract because they have for cap space now and the future.

in Atlanta you have Vicks huge 130 mill contract with a 35 signing bonus hanging there so that even if tehy release him it's going to cost big time leavinf less leverage ofr a Contract.

Add J.Harringtons new Contract to the mix and it makes it even harder. If dante signs he will sure start ahead of joey but there's no way Dante will sign with atlanta if he doesn't know for a fact tha tvick will be suspended or release that's why it's my third option.

Sportscenter announced today that Culpepper met with the Bucs. That's funny considering they have 7 qb's on their roster.
Sportscenter is still guessing he will end up in Jacksonville.

I've never been a huge Culpepper fan. But I think he'll help someone out if they have some other offensive weapons. Wish him goodluck! But please don't come to DC.

I don't see Culpepper going to the bucs with all the QB'S they have plus all of the uncertainty behind his injury. Moreover, i don't think that Daunte is exactly a Gruden type of guy (i.e. an efficient, patient passer who methodically picks apart a defense).

Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?

totally off the subject, but i thought this would be of interest to some. I am in London right now and I went to a pub with a loosely american theme. They had an entire wall dedicated to American football which was dominated by Redskins paraphernalia including banners of all 3 superbowl wins. It was beautiful and it almost brought a tear to my eye. Also their Cowboys stuff was minimal at best and isolated in a small dark corner of the wall.

Yes they have a lot of QB's but are any of them any good? Sorry but Gradkowski is not NFL material. He missed so many wide open guys last year it wasn't even funny. And Luke McNown? Who the hell is he? Plus Simms is coming off a very serious injury plus he played like shit before he got hurt. So that leaves 37 year old Garcia. They have one guy that is a good NFL QB. What if he gets hurt? Then they are right back where they were last year. No depth at QB.

If I were Gruden and my job was on the line I would sign the guy ASAP.

WHile I do agree with you, it's a little late for someone like Culpepper to come in start. He would have to be a back up then learn the plays. So now all the Bucs did was undercut their belief in the QB's on the roster.
I just don't think it was a smart move when you have that many QB's.
Culpepper would instantly become the best qb on the team if they signed him, but I think they just hurt the team with that move. (especially since they likely won't sign him)

Looking like a one-year deal with the Raiders is close to happening. Could be tonight.

Brunell stunk up the field for the rest of the game. Playing two and a half quarters he threw for less than a hundred yards and failed to move the ball. Gibbs, of course, was fine with that.

However, I'm bowing out on this matter now. I don't want to deal with this business again. Returning to a time when fans turned on a QB who was our leading ground gainer over a four year period in behalf of a coach who had made a horrible decision even to bring Brunell in for the first place is something I don't want to do.
You are correct!

What you have to understand is the Gibbs is god crew will side with his every word no matter what. There is absolutly no possibility he was wrong about Ramsey, just like there's no possibility he was wrong about bringing in Brunell, other than a defense putting Brunell on their back and carrying him into the playoffs, while he was given the best starting field position in the NFL all season long he has done absolutly nothing! In fact his play in 2 of 3 seasons has been as bad as I have ever seen for a long term starting QB.

If anyone thinks we wouldn't made the playoffs in 2005 if Gibbs stuck with Ramsey, IMO they are sadly mistaken.

The rest of the NFL all knew what Brunell was coming out of Jack's. the book on Brunell was he no longer would take the hit, which didn't allow him to look down field, and we have seen absolutely nothing to contradict that!

Culpepper though I want nothing to do with!

Surely if Vick is convicted, Atlanta won't be responsible for that whole contract. I'm not an expert or anything, but that doesn't sound right. I would think there is a clause in the contract somewhere that says if you are a dumbass and you get yourself in deep doodoo and have to go away for a while, you ain't gettin' paid.

The NFL Network reports the Oakland Raiders have agreed to terms with QB Daunte Culpepper (Dolphins) after he passed a physical with the team.

It's supposed to be a 1-year deal.
