Re: The Official Cut Durant Brooks Thread

Well, somebody has to get fired after to losing to one of the worst teams in football.

Can't fire Chris Cooley for not putting the ball away after a nice catch and run.

Can't fire Casey Rabach for a muffed snap that caused Jason Campbell to fumble the ball.

Can't fire Jason Campbell for mishandling the muffed snap from Rabach or the pass that got tipped in the air that Pete Kendall attempted to run.

Can't fire Pete Kendall for catching the tip pass, trying his best Barry Sanders impression, coughed up the ball trying to put a move on a linebacker.

Can't fire Chris Horton for failing to blitz the quarterback on the big pass play near the end of the game when his assignment was to blitz the quarterback.

Can't fire Leigh Torrence for not making a play on the ball on the big pass play.

Can't fire LaRon Landry or London Fletcher for dropping interceptions.

But you can fire the punter. Because we all know, it was the punter that lost this game.

I honestly don't think anyone out there will be falling over themselves to pick up Brooks right now. We could probably cut him and pick him up again next summer to give him another shot. I guess the writing is on the wall for Brooks... too bad but he didn't do much to save himself. It's only a matter of time before he really does cost us a game all by himself.

Sounds like Cerrato is starting the ole BS injury story so they can possibly put him on IR.
Cerrato has invested in him and does want to lose him.
The kid is young and is feeling the pressure. If he is good they need to hang on to him until he works his way out of it.

Maybe IR is'nt a bad idea. That way we don't lose him.

I think it's more likely the following will happen

* Injury Settlement:
occasionally a team has a player on IR but agrees with that player to a cash settlement in exchange for releasing that player. The team benefits by limiting further financial responsibility and player carrying costs while the player benefits both by receiving cash and by becoming eligible to sign with another team and begin playing as soon as physically capable (perhaps even during the same season)

A quote from Zorn from the Above article:

"Here's the deal, I would say his position's in jeopardy because of performance, not because of injury, because of performance," Zorn said. "

At last, some honesty.

Brooks' gotta go.

He's hurting us every game.

I absolutely hated wasting a 6th round pick on Brooks, I thought he was outperformed by Frost in preseason and he shouldn't have even made the final 53. I am glad that Cerrato is realizing what a horrible mistake this was and cutting ties now.

Agreed. Looks like he's officially been "released".

I think Frost got a bit of a bad rap here. I was fine with him as our punter. I feel like he got better as the year went on last year and was especially good in the Bears game. Hester ripped through every team last year and he did zero against us. Frost was a big reason for that.

Then we spend a 6th round pick on a new punter which I do think was a waste. Look what we got with Horton in the 7th round! Then from all accounts Frost outperforms in the preseason but we still cut him loose to save some face and back up Vinny's prized draft pick.

The whole thing was a mess. Glad it's over. Time to move on...

Re: The Official Cut Durant Brooks Thread

Cut the SOB, a high school punter can punt 39 yards avg and 32 yards net. Cut your losses and try someone else out because this Brooks kid is god awful.

Re: The Official Cut Durant Brooks Thread

I've heard the Redskins have been looking at Brooks having some kind of injury which will result in his being put on injured reserve. So another punter for the rest of the year is probably a given for this year. If he is indeed injured, then he'll get another chance next year.
