re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
i might be in the minority here, but i think Chad Pennington would be a GREAT QB for us if we draft a young QB, until the drafted QB is ready to play.....

For one yr wouldnt be bad i guess... not like the Skins have a deep threat who can burn defenses consistantly anyways. m/o

Meaning you might be in the minority. ![]() I liked Chad back when he was with the Jets but since his injury to his shoulder or whatever it was he has not been the same. I'm actually supprised he's still playing since he seems to only throw 10 to 15 yrd passes the majority of the time. We need more accurate passers period. A Rookie to develope or start and a Vet. I think JC will be ok filling in unless he's picked up by another team. I wonder if the team has explored looking into any QB's through FA that might be decent as a Vet if JC gets picked up by another team? I know our asking price is a lot but considering he's better then what some teams already have he might get looked into and possibly a proposed offer slightly lower then what we are offering. |

I just want to see JC one more year, while we have a QB sitting and learning the Shanny system

I like the guy, he's a pro. But we've seen enough of short passing around here for too long. He's coming off his 2nd shoulder injury to an already weak arm.

Noodle arms don't bode well with Shanahan. The way Shanahan does offense, he's going to be attacking all parts of the field, and Pennington's ability to go deep is poor. I'd rather keep Todd Collins.

With enough time to throw I think Moss and Thomas would have no problems getting deep.

Griffin has his 2010 salary guaranteed to him, so if he gets cut, it will be because he lost his roster spot in camp.

re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
yeah he'll still collect a check if he's cut but the skins will be off the hook for his contract salary cap wise in the future. Griffin, ARE, Collins, Betts, Randy Thomas (and portis if we can sign a RB or two) should all be cut to shed these stupid contracts for future years. Yay uncapped year!

re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
We're Playing a 3-4 now. we need LARGE DE's that can eat up blocks like Daniels can so that LBs can make plays. Does nobody understand this? If we dont resign Daniels as a stopgap then thats another position we'd need a starter in.

I agree. Daniels seems to be our most ready-made 3-4 DE.
