However, as I said in another thread, all that has really nothing to do with Favre "retiring" today because it's not like McNabb is going to up and leave the Redskins now and it's not like anyone really thought Favre was playing more than this upcoming year.

Statement is being blown out of proportion
End of story.

No kidding. Lavar and Dukes can't stop talking about it on the radio. They're asking fans to call in and voice their "concern". Ridiculous. Earlier on the Mike Wise show they dedicated the entire f-ing show to Colt Brennan.

Its really sad how they blow everything out of porportion.

Re: why no extension?

Is franchising him an option with the looming CBA lockout in 2011?

All I can point to is that there won't be any player movement prior to the start of the 2011 league year. And though that typically means March 1, that could be a lot closer to August or September next year.

Really. Boring. Offseason.

It's an I dunno. There's no franchise tag to use without a CBA. But there's also no free agency to have to protect them from.

In the absence of free agency, McNabb wouldn't be eligible to go to anyone else unless we allowed him to. We'd, essentially, own his rights until traded or retired or relased. Players won't play under a system like that, so that's why the easiest solution is to just postpone the league year until they can figure out what to do with the franchise tag.

They very well might get rid of it in a bargaining chip, but he's our quarterback. We don't need a franchise tag. If we want him, and pay him like we want him, he will stay.

Re: why no extension?

there might not be a "franchise tag" with no CBA. then the skins would be in trouble. they have to get this done, because the price just went up

Did he also try to slip in a stealth promotion for a BBQ event?
