Time to call this a rebuilding year instead of a contending year. Looks like VT's young guys are gonna need some time to adjust to playing for a supposed-to-be contender.

damn shame that its a "rebuilding year" with a senior qb thats started games the last 4 years, all of our running backs have experience, all our receivers are upper classmen pretty much, upper classman o-line...its damn sad that its come to this. we suck on both lines and our linebackers arent good enough, bottom line. congrats to jmu for the win today, but no offense its just inexcusable that VT loses at home to a 1AA team. again, i mean no disrespect to jmu fans or their team, but this is a disgrace.

Two things happened today.

One, our defense is good...especially at pressure. That killed their o-line. Tech's o-line is an embarrassment. Especially that left side.

Two, a short-weeked Tech didn't show up. Right now a lot of their players look like they are going through the motions (looked a little like that last week to).

What sucks is that Tyrod is in the top 5 in QBs in the country. On a good team with a better o coordinator he is a Heisman candidate.

Tech isn't nearly as bad as they looked today but they have fundamental problems on their lines. For some reason they never seem to recruit along the o-line very well and on the d-line they have to get lucky that their undersized athletic D linemen that they recruit end up being special. Otherwise they're just...undersized and useless. Tech also has way too many average players starting to be a real contender. They have to get better at recruiting. They were killing it for a while after the Vick years but now London is recruiting the state better and JMU, Richmond and W&M recruit the state very well. They still pull the top players but they lose out on the depth players that would be good starters in the junior/senior years. Especially on the lines.

I did not see the game but from th score it sounds like the D did their part and it was the O that could not do anything. IF that was the case people cannot blame that loss on rebuilding because the O has plenty of upper classmen.

the D sucks just as much as the O. tbh im more worried about the defense because their tackling has been atrocious and the depth is very poor. lots of injuries there, no experience, and the talent level is just lower. when we were top class on defense we had all american linebackers. vince hall, adibi, james anderson, cody grimm, etc. now we have bruce taylor, jeron gouveia winslow, and lyndell gibson. 2 3 star guys and 1 4 star. but from watching them they are just average at best, and winslow is not good at all.

and my comment wasnt stating that we are rebuilding. i was saying its a shame to call it a rebuilding year if we have so much experience on offense. this was not meant to be a rebuilding year with tyrod as a senior plus a full stable of receivers and backs.

Robinson has looked good against 2 sub-par defenses, but if Dane Christ doesn't get hurt after the first drive, the game probably has a different outcome.

Boy, you sure give credit very grudgingly, don't you? And you love the what if game. This wasn't Georgia playing Cheyenne State. Michigan v. Notre Dame!

The kid has, what, nearly 900 total yds in 2 games!! C'mon Quake? He has to be the front runner for the Heisman after the first two games.

No he doesn't, against 2 sub-par defenses, and both Michigan and Notre Dame borderline stink. This wasn't Alabama vs. Ohio State its exactly what Dirtbag said it was. Also, to say Christ leaving didn't affect the game is blasphemous.

Is there a way that both Michigan and Notre Dame can both loose? Rich Rodreiguez and Brian Kelly are the two worst coaches in college football from a scandalous stand point.

Those guys are way worse than the coaches in the south who over-recruit and then screw over 18 year old kids by pulling their scholarships.

Probably just a case of two average teams exchanging blows. As the year goes on it'll probably look more and more like The Tech/Boise game.
