I think Trent Richardson is an excellent player, but I wouldn't be happy at all if we took him at #6.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
unless its AP, you shouldn't draft RBs in the first round. QBs, LTs, and DL guys are much harder to find outside of round 1 that'll make a huge difference... 1st round CBs aren't a bad idea either.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
Assuming we got Peyton Manning, I think you'd burn the first pick on either the offensive line or a top notch corner. I'm sure Manning would appreciate solid pass protection up front.
Running backs just don't rule the NFL anymore. It's become very pass happy, and I used to be one of those who would argue against this point up and down, but I realize this is the truth now. Richardson could probably be picked up by somebody in the late first round if not second. That's just how it is with running back nowadays.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
It would really only take one surprise for Blackmon to be available when we draft. I can easily see it happening.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
I hope that's the case. Blackmon is a nice consolation prize if our qb isn't there at 6 and they don't want to trade up to get him.

Is Grossman paid starter money or a back up?

I think they're trying to figure out a way to get Tannehill along with another offensive blue chip prospect. Ideally they probably would love Blackmon in the first and Tannehill in the second but I have doubts that Tannehill will last that long. And they don't seem enamored with Foles.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
He is a free agent as of the first couple of weeks of March.
He is not under contract for next year.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
He was paid back up money to be a starter last year. He's currently a UFA.

I think you could see them move up into the mid to bottom of the first for a guy like Tannehill (possibly Weeden) or down into the mid to bottom of the 2nd/top of the 3rd for a Foles/Cousins Or that 3rd rounder might be heading to NE for Hoyer

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
This early in the game most people are speculating, generally based on info that is allowing them to make these inferences. So, knowing that Brown's less than 50% to return, knowing that they are looking to target WR and OG in Free Agency, knowing that Trent Williams is "one strike away" and putting aside the QB scenario for a minute it's not too difficult to look at OT and DB as two positions that could be targeted at the #6
