It's laughable to me how all the Cowboys fans at my work today are making excuses for their team. And its not even all adults, but kids too. Parents are brainwashing these poor kids! One girl said we didn't really win the game because we didn't even score a touchdown, our defense had to. All I said was DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS and YOUR KICKER COULDN'T MAKE A 30 YARD FIELD GOAL. And magically she was rendered speechless. LOL. HAIL!!!

Well if we're playing that game, their only TD was a gift from our punter. They only had to go 30 yards.

Nice statement from Alexander about Shanny's attitude after the game:

Quote:
Outside linebacker Lorenzo Alexander said that Shanahan was all business after his first victory with the Redskins.

"Everything about him said, 'Been there, done that,'" said Alexander. "He's ready to move on to next week."

Thought I'd have a heart attack before the game finally ended. That was a game the Skins always lose.

Moving forward, their offense was lacking and needs work. The coaching, however, is 100% better!

Yeah...went from getting ready to punch something and break my OTHER hand to trying not to pick up my sleeping dog and hug him...which would've resulted in me getting my face bitten and son woken up.

It was so confusing, especially when McNabb started celebrating before we knew the call...for a split-second it looked like he was cheering for Dallas.

Here's what my wife seconds of insanity looked like...probably similar to everyone else's:

Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread

oh man that game was intense. it seemed like the crowd was rockin hard last night. particularly with 2 mins left. it seemed like the TV crew had to switch to 3 different cameras before they found one that wasnt rocking up and down.

the stadium was as loud as ive ever heard it on tv.

an exciting win at home = more fans in the future. the skins got alot of work to do to win back or give birth to the new generation of fans they have failed to attract or lost over the past 10 years.

Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread

listening to espn 980, some good points made.
Defense speaks for itself..fairly solid (need some run stopperage) MADE critical plays when needed. Scored a TD...first since 2007
On offense, execution needs some work, playcalling..GOOD. Our guys TOTALLY outcoached their guys. It was a PROFESSIONALLY played game by a respectable PROFESSIONAL looking squad......nice

I couldn't watch the final play, I buried my face in a pillow and my heart sank when they said TD, but as I looked up that's when the flag graphic went up and it was quickly obvious that the TD was going to be wiped out.

Ditto. I saw the TD and died a little inside. It probaboly took a good 2-3 seconds before I noticed the flag... then I lost it.

Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread

From the agony of defeat to the thrill of victory in no time flat! What a crazy ending--fitting for a skins-boys game. I am so glad we pulled it out (understatement of the year!).

I really loved what Boswell said about this game, basically, how nice it is not to be the stupidest team on the field for once. It's been a while!

As he put it: "Stupid no longer lives here anymore. It's moved to Dallas." Sweet!

Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread

Even after the flag my wife and I were looking at each other -- "Does that mean we win?" "Do they have to replay 10 yards down?"

It took about a minute to realize "YES!! WE WIN!!!!"

^Of course not. Neither has ValleyRanchDressingGirl or whatever her name is. DBoyz seems to have gone missing too. Talked plenty BEFORE the game.

I guarantee you when they do show face, they'll be crying about the bad call that led to the D.Hall return for a TD. And obvi the play that ended the game.

It's going to be a bunch of what ifs and buts. Nothing about all the holds that bum Barron got away with. Nothing about how Wade Phillips actually sucks and that Jason Garrett is generally overrated. Typical Dallas bullsh*t.

A nice congrats and keep it moving would good once in a while.

Funny, we get to beat up on another team from Texas next week.

Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread

I don't know what people expected from our running game last night. Dallas has one of the best front sevens in football.

Well, for sure they have one of the best ends coming off the edge, Demarcus Ware, and I think the best nose tackle in Jay Ratliff. Two All-Pros and a lot of solid guys around them. Not a bad outing by our guys up front.
