Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021

This is why if we can't get a guy we really want in a trade, that gives us a quality starter for 2-3 years at least, we should draft and pick up a 1 year rental like Fitz as a bridge. And a trade is looking less and less likely to me. If Allen and Heinicke are 100% for camp maybe 1 of then can start and run the offense at a good enough level for us to be competitive again, but to me it's too big an if. Bring in a vet to compete with them, then keep the best 2 plus a rookie. To me its low risk bringing in a 1 year FA rental as you're not thing up a ton of cap or draft picks on a trade for an equivalent talent (unless by some miracle you could snag Watson), and if the rookie is a bust, you try again next year.

Can't help feeling if we put all our eggs in the one basket of 2 injured QBs it could come back and bite us.

We have to try just about anything. I believe thinking you can roll with Allen and Heineke is a big mistake. Neither one of them is the answer IMHO.

Do we have any hope for the practice squad qb we had last year?

Well they must have had some faith in him as they made him the#2 behind Heinicke when Smith couldn't go, but not enough to make him starter...

Well I think they did that because there was literally no other QB on the roster who could physically play.

Doug Williams is a legend here and I don't want to sound like I'm disrespecting him, but nothing he has said or done anywhere over the years has made me feel that he is anything other than just a corporate suck up.

Doc walker likes the name .. Burgundy & Gold , The best College team for a while goes by the name Crimson tide , uses a elephant for mascot.. plain helmet with number .. The BRAND is what the team makes it .. you lose and people say it sucks .. you Win and the name becomes part of it I personally do not want another generic name to replace what we had .. red tails, red wolves , all those names are just that .. Washington Football is what I like .. no need to say team .. they Could be also referred to as Burgundy & Gold .

You don't want a generic name - but you like Washington Football?? That is as generic and bland as you could get.

i disagree . . . every team is that already . . . Seahawks are the Seattle Football Team, Cardinals are the Arizona Football Team, etc. etc. etc. . . . BORING!! Come up with something and actually give the team an identity because generic names like that are NOT an identity. Plus that would be the best of all worlds for the team. they would be able to still use the Washington Football Team any times because its still would be true and they can sell merchandize still using that name . . . Plus. sell a shit ton more using whatever name they come up with.

Well actually if you read the timeline they put on the journey website, which is in line with the process Jason Wright revealed during the season, I really don't think there's that big of a chance it stays WFT.

They highlighted so many times the fact they gonna value fan input and they wanted to pick a name that last at least a century, I have a hard time going "meeeh we don't feel like rebranding after all...".

Just read the last part of the timeline:

"Finally, we put our game plan into action—by unveiling and launching our new identity for the fans, the players, and the future. This will kick off the next century of Washington Football."

I think THE DAN cackles with glee at not changing the name and leaving it in limbo, thumbing his nose at all the SJWs. I think Goodell and NFL have told him he has to pick a name eventually. I think complicating the matter is the fact that squatters have sat on many of the preferred names, the intellectual rights, and want exorbitant sums for them. Oh the irony of turds bigger than THE DAN holding him hostage. I do not think painting and relabeling costs or any of that factor in, they are a pittance. Warriors is the easy choice, but squatters own it, for example. A final note is that the name must be 100% PC-friendly, sad what this country is becoming, and even warriors might not be 100% PC-friendly. There is also a PR aspect, how it factors in to the investigations of misconduct on every front imaginable by THE DAN.

I agree I would take Darnold over MM. Sam has shown flashes of potential and he is more accurate than MM

Doesn’t matter to me. I stocked up on Redskins gear and they will always be the Redskins to me. I knew several Native Americans who are fans of the team because of the Redskins name and logo and I promised them I would always wear Redskins gear and I intend to do so.
