When it came to school he was no joke, Tulane is a good school too.

His football IQ might be lacking, but off the field he seems pretty sharp.
And I can guarantee you that every teacher I had at Tulane put more pressure on football players to perform. I had 2 classes that had football players in them while I was there and in one class I witnessed a teacher rant against football players missing class for any reason relating to football because they "aren't going to the NFL." At the very least the football players were held to the same standard as the rest of us.

I knew a couple guys on the team, they certainly didn't get a free pass. And, on that note, they were all pretty damn bright. If you're recruited by TU you have to have the grades to go there. It doesn't have a reputation for being the "Harvard of the South" for no reason.

Finally, from personal experience, I have no idea how Pat double majored. I was killing myself trying to keep up with 12 credits there. I came away with great grades, but I worked as hard as I ever have for those A's. That school is hard as hell, to double major without being an athlete is crazy, I don't see how he did it.

Good to hear a first hand experience.

Yeah I don't see how he did it either, double major AND he graduated a semester early. All that and football, and javelin?!

That's good to hear. I don't think schools should give grades away, they just graduate dummies. That definitely says that Tulane has their priorities straight.

I have never heard it called "Harvard of the South", in fact I have always heard it's a top 5 party school across the nation.

That's more of a local thing because there are a few universities in the area. Everyone I know who grew up in LA and TX refers to it that way.

As for being a party school...definitely. We're in New Orleans. We would generally be up until 3 am every single night. Su, M, Tu, Th doing homework so that we could go out on W, F, Sa. Wednesdays are "Swiller Night" at Quill's, it was awesome. You get a huge cup and anything you want in it for $5. Plenty of hung over kids coming on Thursdays, so you generally try to accomplish everything you had due prior before Friday by 9 pm on a Wednesday so you had time to pregame and walk there.

Man, I miss that school.

So in essense you are guarenteeing no QB could win 3 games this season?

That's what college is for!
What sucked for me, is I went to Harding University for 2 years (before I wised up and left) and it was in a dry county. We literally had to drive 40 minutes to get alcohol, and of course whoever went had a long list of alcohol to bring back, and you were only allowed to carry so much per vehicle / person. So every time someone went out, they broke the law. HAHA.
It wasn't until I went to UMASS (1 year) that I learned how to really party.

This DE, Lake. What are you talking about on this one? Mark for Lake makes NO sense?

Please explain your thinking on this move?
It appears we still have a need for a pass rusher and Lake seemed to be all over the field whenever I watched the Falcons. MB is shot and the sooner people realize it, the better. So why not keep Collins, send Brunell to ATL and get a young pass rusher? This is my thinking

The problem with your thinking is you're a year off in your assessment. Antwan Lake left the Falcons at the end of 2005 and now plays for the Saints. It's equivalent to saying why don't the Bills trade with the Colts and get Edgerrin James

Simeon Rce just released by the Bucs. I thought this would happen after they drafted Adams. This would be a HUGE addition to our D Line and pass rush. Hopefully we have been anticipating this.

Has there actually been any interest from the Falcons or just speculation?

But....unfortunatley IMO the Jags game was the exception, not the rule since Nov 2005. Stats aren't everything, but I believe confirm what I'm saying.

Since Nov 2005
MB has passed for over 200 yards in 5 out of 18 games, and for over 250 in only 2 of 18.
He has thrown for more than 1 touchdown in 5 out of those same 18 games, but 0 touchdowns in 7 of 18.
His QB rating in 2006 was over 77 in only 4 out of 9 games.

I sat in the end-zone against the Chargers in 2005 and had a great view from as close to the QB perspective as you can get sitting in the stands. I watched on at least three separate plays where Moss had the SD corners torched on beautiful Post-Corner routes downfield, MB was looking right at him each time, but the ball needed to be thrown with velocity at about 35+ yards to the outside and he didn't make the throws because IMO he knew he couldn't get the ball there.
Brunell has no almost no value. He and Collins are two of the worse QB's in the NFL and are only around because of relationships within the organization. They're security blankets for a couple of guys we know.

Re: What!!!? Brunell to the Falcons?

This reminds me of the idiotic move we made by turning down a first round pick or Ogulyne with the Bears(sp?) for Ramsey.

If someone offered a wet ham sandwich for Brunell we would be very stupid not to take it.
