Re: Why all the complaining?

It's sad....I think we have the personnel to make it a game this sunday....but I'm afraid we just don't have the coaching.

IF we switch things up....we have a shot....if we don't....we will play ourselves right out of the game

You CANNOT throw deep if you can't pass protect.

My suggestion is that we are banged up and that until our OLine is healthier then we are going to have to minmize the risks we take offensively. Taking risks with a good offense makes a lot more sense than taking risks with one that can't execute.

We need to:

- Get healthy first and foremost
- Catch the ball. If we catch one of those balls we dropped against GB we probably win and if Cooley or Thrash catches one they dropped yesterday then the game is less nail biting.
- Continue to do what we can to protect the passer. Letting him get clobbered will lose us games more than anything we are doing right now. It will.
- I like the ideas of using some more rollouts/moving pockets on occassion but it isn't the only answer. Using them once or twice a drive is enough.

Re: Why all the complaining?

I've honestly never seen so much whining after a win and a 4-2 start.

No kidding. I don't get it. I mean it seems we all agree the offense is sucking but I don't get the attacks. Looking realitically at the situation it is obvious to me and just about anyone who understands the game even a bit that this is what we CAN DO on offense right now. There isn't some magic "Our line sucks" offensive strategy that will allow us to score 30 points a game. If there was then everyone would use it already.

Exactly. That is not why I started this post. I just hope all these people aren't the same ones who change their stance every single week (I know they are). We are 4-2 and if the playoffs started today we would be in them so everyone needs to sit back calm down and realize we WON the game we DID NOT LOSE.

It's not whining. It is simply us trying to discuss in a forum (which I think you started and I for one appreciate) ways that we would like to see our team conduct it's buisness that some of us pay good money to support. It doesn't make us any less of a fan if we may NOT from time to time look at this team through Kool-aid colored glasses. I for one think that what this team really so deperately needs is a possession receiver (in the mold of an Art Monk) who isn't just here for a year before going on Social Security, and is above 6'. That receiver for the cardinals (Larry Fitzgarald) would look nice in B/G.

While this statement is fine, I really hope you aren't suggesting that we haven't spent enough dough on receivers in the past few years. Free Agency isn't really helping our cause right now.

We don't need another receiver. We just need the ones we have to get healthy, get their heads right, and stop dropping passes. In that order.

Can you make the Kool-Aid avatars available to the masses? I'd like to subscribe to your Kool-Aid newsletter.

Re: Why all the complaining?

Look at it this way.

An offense is a machine. Lots of moving parts working together for a common goal. One part starts malfunctioning and the rest of the parts probably hide it in most cases. Another and maybe some issues start showing up. If the wrong part breaks then the problems become obvious.

The OLine is the engine of this machine. When it starts breaking down it doesn't matter how good anyone else is because you simply can't operate with every play breaking down in a rushed jailhouse break. Our OLine is broken right now. If you want to attack depth I can that argument way more but don't attack the philosophy because we are cornered.

Yup. My sentiments exactly. Good posts throughout, FRPLG.

And still, I think we're not that far off, if Rabach gets healthy. We need to pick up 3rd downs, obviously--but we're getting to 3rd and short a lot, and that's a good sign. A second more to throw (that's actually a lot!) or a 1 yard more push from the line, and we get a fresh set of downs. The next play is often the best for playaction--the D is stacked against the run (Gibbs loves to run, etc. etc.), you get good matchups for Cooley or the backs out of the backfield, and you at times get single coverage on the WRs. WE NEVER GOT INTO THAT SITUATION YESTERDAY. A few first downs on those 3rd and shorts, and the playbook opens up. We failed to convert--injuries, execution, and playcalling failed us there. But we're not that far off, IMO.

And we have a great D. And WE WON ANYWAY!

Re: Why all the complaining?

Most of these attacks are based on who we ALMOST lost to and how we ALMOST lost the game. This way of losing games has become a trend with this team over the last 4 years. The offense is anemic. Everyone was to say the Oline sucks, which is absolutely does, but it should not be the excuse for everything. The guys we have playing have been starters in this league. quality starters. Rabach probably hurt more than any of the others being out yesterday, but the playcalling in the 2nd half is and has been not very good. Teams seem to be able to adjust a couple of things on the defensive side to stop us completely in out tracks. We simply make no adjustments at all, we continue to do the same things week in and week out. I think most of us here believe we should be able to beat these teams we are suppose to beat, but beat them handily and we are not. We didn't take advantage of a beat up Warner yesterday, when we knew they were one dimentional at the end of the game. GW use to dial up some blitz's that would crush teams when they did that. but that is not what he wants to do this year. These games should not be nail biters if we are going to consider ourselves a playoff team. Teams coming up on the schedule will absolutely bury us and it wont be close. Dallas and the D is coming on strong, G-men D is playing as good as any, Tampa's D. plus their offenses are strong. Yes winning the game is great, 4-2 is great, but for the life of me I can't get excited knowing who we have coming up and knowing we are just not very good right now.
