Steve Mariucci is still in this I hope. We are very lucky he is still available. It's time to sign him.

Are you talking about giving somebody the crabs? j/k

Seriously though, I'm all for giving Fassel a shot. I think he needs to be here to help develop Zorn as an offensive coordinator. The biggest knock I see with Fassel is that I'm not sure he's a long term investment. Fassel is 58 years old, and probably not wanting to coach for another 10 years. If he's relatively successful in his first couple of seasons, I'd say he's good for at least 5 seasons. But, I don't see him being here very long if the Skins struggle early on.
It would be nice to finally find the hidden young treasure somewhere. Such as what Jack Kent Cooke found in a 40 year old Joe Gibbs in 1980.

Agreed!! If not him, then Meeks. You and I living in the Bay area have seen what Mooch can do that Fassel can't.

Re: Spagnuolo stays with Giants!

why settle for a tired retread who was barely .500? who hasn't sniffed another head coaching job since he left the ny giants? i cannot see how we get better with him i cannot see how we improve on this season i think no one wants to work here which is why this search goes on and we settle

Why hire Bellicheck after Cleveland, Coughlin after the Jags?

Schwartz wouldn't be the man to get this thing going. You don't want a rookie HC in the toughest division in the NFL. Fassel isn't ideal, but he did get an only decent Giants team to a SB. He seemed to get the most out of what he had during his tenure at NY. If Marty was a bit younger I would be tempted to want him back.

I don't want any guarantee "All-in" business. Any guy that puts his figurative betting chips all-in in front of national audience is douchey.

Re: Spagnuolo stays with Giants!

I voted against Spags anyways...never thought he'd get it...zero head coaching..
This is Fassell job whether we like it or not.

Don't worry, Snyder would never consider Shottenheimer or Dom Capers....both with hc experience.

At this point, they may be preferable to Fassell

Re: Spagnuolo stays with Giants!

I am a bit surprised over this, I really thought Snyder would have wanted to make a splash and go with the sexy hire. Maybe he wanted to and the Giants got to Spags before an offer was made, or maybe the report that Spags and Snyder agreed he wasn't quite ready was true, who knows. All signs seem to point to Fassel and I guess they probably have all along. We'll see though.

You all know we have missed interviewing several coaches. Mora SR., Dan Reeves, Jerry Glandville(has always been a favorite of mine.), John Madden(BOOM), hey maybe we can find a way to get Al Davis. Great Minds think alike. lol.

At this rate, why doesn't he just go dig up Lombardi and have him coach. I bet he still could. Can't do any worse than Spurrier.

You actually might have something here. Kinda like Lennon in Russia. Put him(Lombardi) in a wheel chair....yeah that's it. Put him in a wheel chair. Who's gunna deny us the privilage of hiring a handicap coach? DS would look like a Saint, People would be talking about his ability to get the great old coaches back, Handicap people everywhere would be rooting for the Skins which means more sales. I can only think of one negative and thats that he would probubly request handicap parking close to the building.
