You guys should be proud of my Non-Madden ultra realistic not a joke team. It's all come from ideas of suggested free agents, trades, and other moves found here, RI, and ES. Basically if those three bodies ran the team this is what we would end up with.

Re: Prospects for Shanahans offense/Hasletts 3-4 D

this is interesting

Redskins will use Alexander at outside LB in 3-4 scheme
In another sign the Redskins plan to shift to a 3-4 defense, versatile defensive lineman Lorenzo Alexander will add outside linebacker to his duties next season, two people familiar with the situation said during the scouting combine at Indianapolis.

Although Coach Mike Shanahan has been noncommittal about his plans for the team, including the defensive scheme he plans to run, several league sources said the Redskins are laying the groundwork for the shift from a base 4-3 front to a base 3-4. Some within the organization have privately raised concerns about Shanahan's plan, citing apparent personnel problems to making such a switch.

Adding Alexander to the linebacker corps, even on a part-time basis, is among many moves that could help in the transition process. Alexander played a key role on offense, defense and special teams during the Redskins' late-season run to a playoff berth in 2007. In 2008, he was an effective pass-rush specialist as a defensive tackle. And with his role expanded on defense last season, Alexander was credited with 23 tackles, including 18 unassisted, two sacks and a forced fumble.

Alexander is among the team's restricted free agents. The Redskins hope to reach an agreement on a multiyear extension with Alexander, sources said at the combine.

That is interesting, dude was just an offensive guard a couple of years ago.

I'd heard about Jarmon lining up at OLB but not Alexander. Not sure what to make of that

He can do anything. I'm only half kidding.

Lorenzo Alexander is the Chuck Norris of this football team.

He was actually a very ineffective offensive player in 2007 and 2008. So that's one thing he can't do.

Lets add Marshall Newhouse to the list of guys who could be good in shanny's offense. The guy was a top performer in the 3 cone drill 20 yd shuttle and 40 yd dash, and it says in his bio that he gets to the second level and blocks there very well. Sounds like a good zone blocking guard to me.

Re: Prospects for Shanahans offense/Hasletts 3-4 D

One prospect for Haslett's new 3-4 might be Suh or Gerald McCoy. If our favorite QB and Okung are both gone before our #4 pick, the best value might be to take one of the big-time defensive tackles. In this scenario, at least one of Suh or McCoy would have to be there for us.

Perhaps we could make the rookie DT our nose, in the small/quick Jay Ratliff model. Kick AH out to one end, make Jarmon the other end. Voila, the conversion of our defensive line to a 3-4 is largely accomplished.

Just one idea.

He might be a fine nose space eater. Do you think he could provide #4 pick value?

ya add Cody to that, one of those guys could be starters at NT for us from day 1 I believe and Add anthony montgomery to that list of possible NT starters for us, but I think Dan Williams will go in the later rounds to either minnesota or pittsburgh.

I agree. They are prototypical space eaters. But I'm looking at Suh or McCoy as one of the smaller, quicker, Jay Ratliff types of NT. Instead of being big cloggers, such smaller NT's also can be playmakers, as Ratliff has shown. Suh or McCoy could be the super-Ratliff, and that would not be a bad thing.

I'm also wondering about who would provide value for a #4 pick if our favorites are gone. I'm not sure that we want to pick Thomas at #4.

Suh would guarantee a range of strong offers to trade up. McCoy on the other hand I'm not so sure about. I think a few teams might try to trade up for Berry but even then I'm not entirely sure.
