You'd have to think so, being that they brought back 1 RB and signed another one. I think Portis is going to miss serious time either way.
I think this would be all over the place if it were true. And I don't trust the ESPN980 crew on breaking news anyway.

It's ESPN 980 saying it I believe, not ESPN. If we are, I haven't heard it. Just want to make the distinction because it may be some of the local reporters who happen to be on an ESPN radio affiliate saying it. But it's not technically ESPN reporting it. Not a big deal, just clarifying.

My opinion is he misses the next two weeks and then they'll re-evaluate

It's all about what you choose to remember him for. Good and bad, CP is a Redskin that always plays hard on Sundays. He was a key contributor to the two playoff seasons under Gibbs.

Maybe I've missed it but I haven't seen anything on PFT or ESPN saying he's out for the year. Links anyone?

Latest is he's probably out until the bye, just got an email about it.

I think Shanahan is saying 4-6 weeks now, which makes sense if what I'm hearing is he could return after the bye week (5 weeks from now)

The last thing i saw was Portis giving an interview with 980, where he said he thought he'd miss a couple games, and even then he wont return to the lineup until he knows he is 100% healthy. He is basically saying he wont chance it by playing hurt...

3rd degree separation of the groin (don't know what that means exactly but any separation of the groin from the bone sound awful!). Out 4-6 weeks. Official now. Link coming shortly I'm sure

It makes you go OWWWW!

Lastly, a third-degree groin pull is represented by many ruptured muscle fibres, severely stretched tendons, and perhaps separation of a tendon from either its muscle or bony attachment. Symptoms can persist for six to eight weeks - or even longer.

Simpson #2? Wow.

Why not Keiland? I think he's proven himself.

Personally I think he's just saying that because Keiland Williams is on the practice squad right now yet everyone expects he'll be activated for Sunday's game

You're probably right at this point, but I also think KW will be the backup.

From the article you posted:

Quote:
Most likely, Ryan Torain will start at running back, and Williams will be elevated to the 53-man roster some time this week (going off the last two weeks’ roster moves, late Friday or Saturday). Chad Simpson, who was added two weeks ago, but was inactive against St. Louis and used only on special teams last week, likely would be the third running back on Sunday.

We've gone from Portis, Johnson, and Parker in the preseason to Torain, Simpson, and Williams.
