Andre Goodman, Kelly Jennings, Chris Johnson, Phillip Buchanon are all UFAs right now. None would command more than a one year deal.

Ultimately, you have to replace him through draft and development, but that was never not the case, and it doesn't matter if he's on the roster or not: it doesn't make acquiring a starting CB more difficult.
C'mon Tripp none of those guys have the playmaking ability of Hall. Especially Johnson and Buchanon.

We all wish Hall would give consistent effort, both mentally and physically, but it's a little silly to pretend he's nothing more than an average talent.

2, 4, 6, 5: win totals with Hall on the team.

I'm not going to argue for or against Hall as a playmaker today, but I will tell you that no correlation exists between plays he makes and games the Redskins win. Its entirely possible that we would have won fewer (or more) games in 2010 without him, but because the team has had so little success and because he's such a liability in coverage, there's no argument to be made that he's a significant or critical member of the team going forward.

Right now, he's just getting paid a decent percentage of our cap. We can easily work it out so we can keep him, but what's the point? We've had his age 25-28 seasons and didn't get anything from them in terms of coverage on the back end. I highly doubt it's going to get better as he ages.

Pats also had Grant and Addai visit. I can say with 98.375% confidence we're bringing back Hightower and adding Owen Schmitt.

Would we cut young or carry 2 FBs? Either way I can't say I'm in favor of that move.

Young will be the starter. Schmitt may not even make the final roster

And I wouldn't see the evil of cutting Hall and his $6 million salary, and then bringing him back at 1 year/$1.5 million. It's more than he would get elsewhere, he can still wear the 'C' patch on gamedays, and we're saving more than $4 million on the cap to do so.

Someone would probably pay him more than 1.5 million. Besides.. he's still probably our best corner, which isn't saying mcuh. Hopefully Morris can get him to play to his potential.

My thinking is that his suitors were relatively limited back in 2009 when if nothing else, he was pretty young for a free agent CB. He's still got plenty of ability left, but there's no one playing a lot more cover two anymore than the Redskins and the Steelers (and Bears), and Hall's kind of made himself into a cover two CB. So I'm pretty confident we'd get him on a one year deal if we cut him.

Chicago's GM was in Atlanta when Hall was there, so that could be an interesting angle. I'm not saying I know what they would do either. I just know that the teams who would be interested in Hall would be minimal. He hasn't exactly turned his reputation around since he's been here.

Bottom line is, if he actually wants to be here, and we're going to let him start, then this is the only opportunity he's got in the NFL like that, meaning the Redskins can pick their price. And IMO, they should.

I like this idea though my intuition is a restructure w/ us is more likely because some franchise will pick up Hall on a 3 yr contract.

Well, if we don't draft some O-linemen, I don't care who we have kicking -- we'll still be watching blocked field goals. Pretty sure Rackers wouldn't have helped the 5 blocked field goals (and a blocked extra point) from last year!

As long as we don't waste a draft pick on a kicker or punter (again) or watching the Swinging Gate, I'm fine with whoever we have. Rackers at 36years old is still viable for a kicker. Although I wouldn't mind seeing Gano again, seemed like he was getting better and is younger. Aside from the blocks, only missed 5 FGs last year, and made a long 59 yarder.
