The additional size he's gained will help him tremendously with blocking bigger people. People forget he was in a run oriented offense at Nebraska. Shanny had an exactly the same type of TE back when he was winning super bowls. His name was Shannon Sharpe.

Yes, I realize that he's added some size and he's a good blocker for a WR. Yes, I realize that he's roughly the same size/speed combo as Shannon Sharpe. However none of it means that Paul is a better blocker then Fred Davis. |

Re: Redskins OTAs
Had to post this.
At the end of the tape about the 2:20 mark, make it full screen to see better. But, the QBs are throwing posts then corner routes side by side. And you can really see the ball jump out of Griffin hands. On the post route you can see Griff and Rex release the ball at the same time and Griff's ball hits the WR first. Then on the corner route Rex releases his pass first but Griff's pass almost hits the WR at the same time as Rex. I just love watching this kid throw the football. (his motion reminds me of Ken Stabler, well if Stabler was right handed, which kinda makes sense because i read in an article that Stabler was one Griffin II's favorite QBs) His throwing motion is so clean. It just looks right, like most of the good ones the ball just looks right coming out of their hands. Someone defined art as the proper making of a thing to be made. Well to me Griff's throws are works of art. I gonna have to limit my post about this kid before I start saying some of the crazy stuff I think about him. I gotta get this one off my chest, the way the kids moves, the grace and balance of his footwork and movement reminds me of Joe Montana except....well....turbo. I'm willing to bet you good money even right now that Paul is a better blocking TE than Fred Davis. Then again, it doesn't take much to be better than Davis in that area, but he isn't on the field b/c of his blocking. I'm not making the claim he'll be starting by the end of the season. I merely said he has the talent to surpass FD and listed 2 areas he already does surpass him in.

I've seen David seal the edge in the running game and block DEs. Is Davis inconsistent? Sure. Does he miss blocks sometimes, sure who doesn't. I have yet to see Paul seal the edge on or block a DE one-on-one or combo block with a Trent Williams on the outside stretch. Quote:
But, I'm sure we could ask someone to ask one the Skins coaches or people close to team if Paul is a better blocker then Davis. Davis plays alot of snap and the reason he can be on the field so much is because of his blocking, his blocking makes him a complete TE. And being a complete TE is part of the reason Davis was franchised tagged. Quote:
And I can't wait to see him in game action. But, I can't see him becoming an true in-line TE because of his blocking. But then again, why would you take a movement TE and make them an in-line TE? |

Re: Redskins OTAs
I know Cooley looked bad early in OTAs, but dont expect him to go quietly. This guy is gonna fight for his spot.
