Re: Nfl draft round 2 and 3 thread.
Can't wait until Jason Reid goes on the radio to sh*t on the Redskins pick.

I've seen comparisons to Justin Tuck

Yup, thats what I meant. He isn't gonna play NT much in the NFL, but if you need a rush from that spot, he is big enough.

Re: Nfl draft round 2 and 3 thread.
his 10/20/40 and broad jump same as orakpo. less reps/vertical, better shuttle/3cone.
i imagine the thought is he'll be put into that olb slot if he's up to it. |

He can play any position on the DL.

Re: Nfl draft round 2 and 3 thread.
for bpa we do seem to be picking needs pretty heavily. maybe that's just how things have worked out, but so far we've filled the gaping hole at RT and orakpo's hole at OLB. 3rd might be RG or FS (or 3rd down back)?

Re: Nfl draft round 2 and 3 thread.
That's because drafting BPA is a fantasy. It rarely happens in the first three rounds. This draft has proven that fact with need pick after need pick.

Scherff was rated number 3 by Scot as far as BPA behind Cooper and Fowler, both gone, Scherff was the pick. I can only imagine that Smith was the same BTW Smith reminds me a lot of Pernell McPhee, I think that could be his floor.

A month ago, Fowler was the 3rd or 4th ranked edge rusher in the draft depending on which site you followed. Last night, Williams wasn't even the first defensive player taken. Fowler didn't suddenly improve his skill set over the last four weeks in order to get picked above the next JJ Watt. It's not like Madden where you get to see all the tidy ratings in whole numbers and can rate and prioritize based on preference. (Strength 89, Agility 91, Smarts 95) McLovin and company have interviewed, researched, and studied all of these guys. He has consistently said he looks at intangibles like love of the game, character, work ethic, and maturity. With these components factored in, who says he didn't draft the best player available? |

Re: Nfl draft round 2 and 3 thread.
Not trying to be a smartass, but how do you know who's BPA? Our rankings or any other pundits don't mean jack shit in the grand scheme of things. It matters what Scott's board says.

But I think what KI is saying is that there seem to be alot of need picks and it would be incredibly coincidental if the cards were just falling that way, and BPA kept filling needs. |

Re: Nfl draft round 2 and 3 thread.
Someone on Twitter just made this observation about Smith's and Kerrigan's combines:
Ryan Kerrigan 6-4, 267 lbs Vertical: 33.5 Bench reps: 31 Broad jump: 10'02" 20 yard shuttle: 4.39 3-cone: 7.18 40: 4.67 Preston Smith 6-5, 271 lbs Vertical: 34 Bench reps: 24 Broad jump: 10'01" 20 yard shuttle: 4.28 3-cone: 7.07 40: 4.71
