The refs are garbage. Even I knew that rule, as many fans watching probably knew it as well. Just pure incompetence. Detroit isn't all that good but they got hosed.

The refs should be treated as players. They should have an off season training program, to go over rules and so forth. They're a total mess.

All true. Pathetic, but Goodell will look the other way like always.

Kam Chancellor is a 15 mill per year Defensive player. pay him

They will.. when it's time to talk about his contract. I don't understand these guys who sign contracts and then decide they want more. They are in cap trouble already.. What do you do? Cut Richard Sherman? Earl Thomas, Marshawn Lynch? Russell Wilson's contract, while he deserved to be paid, is going to be the unraveling of the team we've seen.. They'll have some cap room next year but they need to keep a bunch of those guys happy so they have their work cut out for them.

Everyone knows Seattle won't be able to keep all of their defensive stars happy. I think the expectation should be that the offense should be picking things up since Wilson has one more year under his belt, got paid top QB money, Lynch was brought back (and paid), and they acquired Jimmy Graham.

However, their offense has been slightly below average in many areas (total yards, points, and passing yards). They are in the top 10 in rushing yards, but have yet to score a rushing TD. If you pay money to Lynch, Wilson; and bring in Jimmy Graham, you should be able to overcome not having Kam C.

I think Seattle is one of those teams that finds a way to win; I just don't see how you can spend so much money on offense (with that outcome), to only be still depending on your defense to win games.

Saw this somewhere on the board but can't find it now:

Quote:
“Two years ago we set an NFL record for explosive plays,” Kelly said today. “Now no one plays those coverages.”
Chip Kelly: Defenses changed coverages to stop our big plays | ProFootballTalk

To me, that sounds very Spurrier -esque. "Hey, we'll just chuck it around."

I told my Eagles fan buddy when they hired Kelly that he was the next Steve Spurrier. He's starting to believe me. It'll take them years to undo the damage he's done to that roster.

My text to him Sunday:

"Chip Kelly is good for 10 or 11 wins this year.. I mean not for the Eagles but still, 10 or 11 wins for someone.."

It's good being on this side of the trolling for once..

Chip knows football Xs and Os.

Leader of men? Maybe

GM? Naw. Few HCs can effectively wear both hats.

Re: Around the NFL: week 4

With Vernon Davis's contract coming up this year and him being scouted by McCloughan and him being from DC, I'm wondering if there's a chance he might be willing to workout a sweetheart deal to end his career here?

I take it you guys aren't Vernon Davis fans, lol..

He's a big guy that catches footballs. If he would come at a discount to get out of SF, I'd be glad to have him. Draft another and that position is shored up while we work on that gawd awful secondary.

If Scot does this, I wouldn't mind.

Pass on Davis, the McCloughan TE I rather have would be Delaine Walker if available. But hopefully McC will just pick the next 10 TE year starter in this coming draft.
