Re: 2023 Divisional Round Thread
You guys and your build around Howell bullshit.
Ok maybe he is the guy, there is a high likelyhood that he isn’t. Look at Dallas. Dak dazzled for a few games and got a huge contract. Dak also lost this game. You can’t compete without elite QB play. The ceiling has to be higher than Howell. |

Howell is the penciled in starter because we have no other QBs on the 2023 roster. I don't think anyone is against SH, I just think we are saying "awesome that was one good game against a Dallas team clearly looking to the playoffs the following week". What I am against and i believe others too is thinking that QB1 need box is checked off, it is clearly not. SH has a ton to prove.

Purdy is a nice story. So was Nick Mullens and Taylor Heinike. I feel like were the drunk guy at the end of the night with beer googles on re young unproven QBs. Way over estimating and projecting.

If you can figure out a way to get Herbert, Mahommes, Hurts, or Burrow to town let me know. Not sure what our other options are with other holes, not a ton of cap, and the 16th pick in a fairly week quarterback class Jamf. Like i said before im all for drafting a guy mid round like we did Howell and letting them battle it out. |

You ALWAYS need to be looking. I’d say let’s see what’s Howell got, but also keep your eyes on the draft

I'm not opposed to drafting a QB. I think they should. And I don't care where he's drafted, as long as their evaluation of the QB is commensurate with where he is drafted. Can't go into the 2023 season with all our eggs in the Sam Howell basket. |

Do u consider the last pick in the draft an investment ? It is about as minor investment as you can make. We will go into 2023 with three quarterbacks on our final roster and Sam will have to beat them out in camp to start. That is obvious. The question remains what will we invest in those other guys? Some people on this board (not you im just piggybacking on your post) are acting like we can just bring in some big time arms to fight for the job. Where are they coming from? I wish that when people say things like “ sam didn’t earn anything and needs to have competition “ they would elaborate. Are you wanting to give up draft picks to take a guy like Levis? Are you wanting to give up a ton of cash and whatever else for Carr? Are you wanting to reach on say Richardson in the first? Right now Sam is our best option. So if you are not in favor of giving up picks or cash or both for someone specific than where is this strong competition coming from? Andy fucking Dalton? |

There are so many scenarios and what-ifs that we can go through from here until the start of the season. For me, I really don't care where they get the competition. I'd rather not go after Carr, Garappolo, etc., and I don't really want to trade up to get a QB, but if they decide to take one of these courses of action - fine. Hope it works. My hope is Sam is the guy, but I would like them to bring in a 'Brisett type guy' who they also like, and have a competition. Hopefully Sam wins and the Veteran QB will be his competent backup. I would also like them to draft a QB to develop for the future. I would rather fill some other holes with the earlier draft picks and pick a QB later, but ultimately I don't care where the QB is drafted as long as the value makes sense. |

Yes to giving Carr a 3yr/100M/50M guar contract Yes to taking Richardson if he falls naturally to us and they have a 1st round grade Yes to signing a Brissett, drafting another day 2-3 QB and seeing what happens Yes to every possible QB option --- I like Howell but Im not pausing my search for the next Burrow/Allen/Mahomes bc we have a 5th round rookie QB on the roster

Re: 2023 Divisional Round Thread
I don't think my view has changed much after this weekend. I can still see a 49ers v Bengals SB. But that depends on Shanahan resetting Purdy and the Bengals D doing to the Chiefs what they did to the Bills. I'm not convinced about either at this point (though Mahomes injury might be a big factor). But that's what makes the games interesting.
I said to a friend about a month ago when discussing the potential SB match up, the Bills will likely be there if they fix their D. They didn't. I thought the 49ers would stumble after losing 2 QBs. They didn't. I thought the Eagles would nose dive after a few losses and relying on Hurts. They didn't. I thought the Chiefs would, well, be the Chiefs (never know quite what you'll get). They did. I thought (well hoped) the Cowboys would be the Cowboys. They did. For me the NFL is the only reason to love the longest month of the year😁 |

Re: 2023 Divisional Round Thread
Yep Rookie QB do have a lot to prove ..I guess that’s why Ron keeps bringing in Vet QBs…Probably gonna end up with Carr .

Re: 2023 Divisional Round Thread
Howell shouldn't have been a 5th round pick.. Two years ago he was mocked in the 1st rd and some had 1st overall.
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/...tchinson-no-1/ Howell dropped because the league fell in love with Malik Willis and Ridder..
