Theismann is a more reliable source than Wright is at this point. Joe is a made guy and is loved in this town, no matter who the ownership group is. So I 100% believe him when he says Commanders is gone- at some point. When? Who knows..

It doesn't matter if they win the damn SB, I don't think Commanders is staying simply because literally no one likes it. If they get a name that everyone likes or can respect and can relate to, it will make them a ton of money.

When the time is right, that shitty ass name and hopefully those shitty ass uniforms are gone. We still have no identity.

My thoughts precisely. Joe T is Gospel in the DMV and probably knows more than most journalists. Change the name to something respectable to remove the skid mark douche bag Danny created and move on. I’m all in on that approach.

It makes huge sense to make a change. You start by changing the culture of the entire team and that means starting fresh. Only way to do that is new name/logo/etc. I do think they should do this when they get a new stadium though. Get that push to rebuild in old RFK spot.

Idiots wanting the Redskins name to be brought back need to fuck off. It's never happening. Ever. End of story. Move on or go support another team. It's that simple.

I think Joey T's sphere of influence is blown out of proportion here based on most of our ages. I am willing to bet the average Commanders fan under the age of 35 doesn't even know who he is.

joe would not just come out and say what he said if he didn't hear this from someone high up on the food chain.

Joey T > Jason Wright

Joey T should just come and tell everybody we are changing it back to the Skins

Joe has said some stupid shit in the past, and he's always trying to bring attention to himself (see the whole Dwayne Haskins jersey number episode)

When a credible reporter like John Keim or Nicki Jhabala says anything about a name change I'll believe it.

The only people that keep talking about a name change are the delusional people that want the old name back, the people that are mad they didn't get Redwolves, or anyone in the media that wants clicks.

The name will likely change with the new stadium announcement. The lease for Fedex Field is up in 2027, so next season (before preferably) would make sense to have a new name and location, lining up sponsors that make sense for the new name. Lots of work has to be put in to make that happen, and depends on how useful the work done under Snyder is.

I think it may be the other way around: get the stadium deal done and then look into changing the name, and if that happens you have the new name unveiling with the new stadium. That's easily a 5-10 year project, which gives the organization plenty of time to do their homework and get everything done correctly.

Amid calls for another name change, the Commanders signed a partnership with the U.S. Air Force and created a military-themed suite at FedEx Field.

Defensive players also have Air National Guard patches on their practice jerseys, and offensive players have patches for Folds of Honor, an organization that provides scholarships to families of service members and first responders.

(Interesting but probably not important)

They could still change the name to the sky pilots or the Tactical Air Commands.

Or anything else as most other teams, if not all of them, have similar deals with the military.

Of course. Just wanted to use synonyms for Air Force.

I really do hate the name Commanders. Hasn’t grown on me at all. I find myself saying Washington when asked who I root for because I’m embarrassed to say Commanders. I don’t think I have ever said it. It is just over the top terrible. I personally think they will change the name. Definitely not to Redskins or Red anything but my God I could make a list ten miles long of better names than Commanders. Only way I would be down with that name is if we had a guy dominating a woman in some bondage scene on our helmets.

I am indifferent to most names. I personally like names that have a connection to the city: 49ers, Steelers, Packers. The only other name I think actually is kinda cool is Chargers. Some are just dumb Bills for example. Most names are really just generic there is just history behind them.

Due to its proximity to Rock Creek Park, the Chesapeake Bay, and the Anacostia and Potomac Rivers, Washington, DC is home to a diverse population of animal and plant life. 240 species of birds, 29 mammals, 21 reptiles, 19 amphibians, and 78 species of fish can be found in the DC Metro Area. Many of these animals, such as Eastern Gray Squirrels, Blue Jays, and Robins, live here year-round. Others, such as Great Blue Herons, Wood Thrush, and many species of Warblers, are seasonal and migrate during the spring and fall.

Oh, it's official: Washington Warblers

This would become the 2nd best sports team name of all time, after Supersonics #rip.
