Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
You're right.. Zorn did do better, but it was a total different situation then it is now.

Oh, I don't know. Complaining about WR's lack of speed and then urging us to re-sign Gaffney is pretty much fairy tale material.

Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
Yeah.. Griffin would of already broken every record in the NFL, and thrown for 20 touchdowns if it wasn't for Shanahan

Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
hmmmmm, I wonder if they fit into the category of announcers/analysts that don't know what they are talking about, or ones that do. I guess it depends on the situation. A layperson could see the coaching on our team this year is holding the franchise back, not just RG3.

Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
Not saying anything here to defend Shanahan, but there are several other teams this year severely under-performing because their coaches have no business being in their position. San Diego, KC, Buffalo, and I even put Oakland in there. Mike is still the "worst" because he's more responsible for his team's failure than any of those HCs, and by a long shot. But comparing apples to apples i.e. if Mike was just another bad coach and had nothing to do w/ personnel, at least he'd have some company. Right now he's alone as the biggest failure because that's the way he likes it...it's all about him.
We have something none of those teams do, and it's not just RG3 but what he represents. Among all the teams that will/should can their coaching staff at season's end we are absolutely the best destination for all potential HCs. Danny/BA are a few smart decisions away from getting us back on the right track, and that's something I can drink to

Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
This thread has gone on longer than 3 gameday threads.....why do you all continue to beat a dead horse?
You all would rather talk about Shanahan sucking or he should be fired, but not about the positives or other threads on this board. I feel like I'm dealing with a lot of these people when I come to this board...

You dont have to worry about fixing the postive things to get better......, That is, of course, unless its your defense. And your defensive personal and scheme happen to be the strength of your team and you want to change it because, um... well, i guess because it was just as pressing as..... or because an overhall was needed since.... Wait why did Mike make the change again?

Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
Sorry no one really wants to talk much about free agency or the draft right now. Don't take it personally

Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
You would think when fans start saying "Fire Shanahan" or "We're done" or "Start looking towards next year" that they would do what I do and literally look ahead to the future by looking at free agency or draft, but apparently not....yet...

Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
Not that I am defending the people that are posting here (or what is being posted here), but free agency/draft discussions are pointless and too early at this point.

In the current digital issue of Pro Football Weekly, they ran a short feature article on Shanahan and the Redskins' problems. The article states that had Shanahan known how bad his other 52 players were, he would not have made the deal for RGIII. PFW intimates that Shanahan did not expect that the Redskins draft picks (relinquished for Griffin) would be such quality picks. Had he known, the story contends, Shanahan would have never made the deal with St. Louis. Shanahan made the trade with St. Louis believing that his Redskins would be a contender right now!
I draw several conclusions from this story. The first is that RGIII notwitstanding, Shanahan is NOT a shrewd evaluator of football talent. Secondly, the Redskins could probably be 3-6 with a combination of Cousins & Grossman at QB; Shanahan has NOT wisely selected the players (and coaches) that are attempting to complement RGIII's skills, thus the on-field results are less than stellar even with Griffin running the offense. Third, I would say that even if there is but a shred of truth to the story, Shanahan has vastly underrated the Redskins' lack of talent and thus erred strategically in trading away such valuable draft picks. Finally, I would just say that if things are as bad as they seem right now, RGIII will be past his prime by the time the Shanaclan get things figured out -- if they ever do! This seems like a simple case of the game passing-by a once outstanding football coach. |
