Yes, 100% absolutely. Bruce knows that football-wise, his decision to not trade him during the season makes no sense. But this is Bruce's way to punish Allen for speaking out. And i'm sure Dan backs it 100%.

What would his contract situation be? two full years left, it might make him more desirable

And Allen punishes Trent with the loss of a full years pay.

Trent may very well come back week 10 to have the season count as an accrued one.

From what I've read, the current feeling from people close to him is that he won't come back week 10 and is committed to never playing for this team again.

If that's the case, and he does have 2 years left on his contract in 2020, then i actually think holding him until the offseason to trade is the right approach. However, if he DOES come back week 10, then we absolutely should move him for what we can get now.

Good point.
But the trade deadline being 2 weeks before week 10 doesn't play in the team's favor.
If I'm TW (and I've decided I want to get out of here as fast as possible) I'm telling the Skins I don't ever want to play for them again and then I'm coming back week 10...
That would be nightmare scenario for us...

I agree that would be a nightmare scenario for us, but its not necessarily in Trent's interest to do so. As far as we know, the Browns are the only team interested in trents services now, and we don't really know what they've offered. Unless Trent is DYING to play for the Browns, it might be in his long-term best interest to sit out the entire year.

Then, the team could give his agent permission to talk to other teams in the offseason - 32 teams vs. just the browns. this would create more of a market and ability for trent to work out the framework for a potential extension prior to the trade.

Trent has had the opportunity to expedite his exit from the team, and he hasn't done anything. He could have shown up and be a malcontent (see Jalem Ramsey) and he would have been traded. Instead he is giving his paychecks to Snyder. So it will not surprise me if he doesn't show up week 10 to accrue a season.

I hope he doesn't. That's 12MM in cap space we can roll over to next year if he doesn't.

This is really all on Dan. If he wanted to pull the trigger he'd tell his lackey bitch to make a move. It's that simple. Bruce reports to Dan.

He might come in and play hurt and draw his check. Therefore the skins lose out again in that he would be back and draw his check, get another year of service and cost the skins salary cap, but not actually play.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal

TW is not coming back and has said so repeatedly. I see zero chance he comes back in week 10 or the next preseason.

Someone said only the Browns were interested in TW. WRONG! The Texans sold the farm to get a OT from Miami who hasn’t done anything this season. Any team in the playoff hunt who has OL Problems would be VERY interested NOW in the best OT in the NFL. We can get a first round draft pick and maybe more if they would just offer him up. BA should also be offering a bunch of players who won’t be here next year:

TW
Kerrigan
Moses
Norman
Scherff
Richardson
McCoy
Keenum

We can still rescue this terrible year by getting rid of the dead wood for draft picks. Will we do it? Nope. Why not? Because BA and Snyder are incompetent and have no real plan for the future, except “win NOW”. The Dolphins May be bad, but at least they have the draft picks to rebuild next year. The Redskins are bad AND they have no plan to get better. Snyder is like a deer in the headlights...

Getting rid of Scherff would be dumb, he’s not exactly having an elite year, I blame fucking Moses for being a POS and Scherff trying to bail him out.
