The answers were as follows:
John Harbaugh - 24%
Mike Smith - 4%
Tony Sparano - 24%

and finally
Jim Zorn - 47%

Ironic, half the league is laughing at us but 6,038 people think that Jim Zorn is going to be the best rookie head coach.

Over 15,000 have voted now. Keep in mind Baltimore, Atlanta, and Miami had a combined record of 10-38 in 2007, and we were a playoff team. It's a nice poll, but it's kind of a no-brainer.

Exactly what I was going to say. Even if we hired Mike Smith, we'd have the majority of the votes cause we have an established team.
I'm not thrilled with the Zorn hiring (as HC), but I most certainly beleive Zorn will do better than all those guys.

Re: Zorn "probably the worst NFL hire of all time"??

It seems to me that John Harbaugh is a similar hire to Jim Zorn since they both jumped to HC from a position coach. And I could be wrong but I thought a large chunk of the previous coaching staff is still there also...I know Ryan is still the DC. Anyway I didn't hear anyone criticise that hire. It's just Snyder...he is always going to be criticised until the Redskins win consistently.

I think the first impression will be everything. I will need his respect before the season starts.
To impress me he will have to:
-Cut Lloyd
-Net Ocho Cinco or some quality signing
or
- A brilliant draft pick

I think Zorn's opinion will be 3rd in line behind Danny and Vinny for all three items on your list. And I don't think we can acquire Chad Johnson and still have a brilliant draft pick, b/c we're gonna have to give up a lot to get him.

No one got mad at Kawakami "because he didn't think Jim Zorn was all that good a selection", but the guy flat out said this may very well be the worst NFL hire of all time! That is insulting to a man who hasnt even been on the job for more than a few hours before he wrote that. Not to mention Kawakami has a responsibility to actually do research and not make dumb remarks that Zorn was out of football and then magically ended up as Seattle's qb coach!

The problem I find with the title of Mr. Kawakami's article is that it's so reminiscent to a parent telling a child "It will never amount to anything".

It behooves me how in one breath, one can declare a prediction of failure and doom, then in the next, say only time will tell. The comparisons do not equate, and take on the apearence of the high road to avoid redicule in the event their prediction backfires. "Just be safe and bet on every horse in the race".

They compare him with tony dungy on the nice guy meter...maybe the nice guy motivator approach will work.

I don't care what his credentials are. A turd is a turd and this article is a heaping pile of it.

Re: Zorn "probably the worst NFL hire of all time"??

The article was written with such a level of venom it made Len Pastabelly seem like a Redskins fan. It was rife with inaccuracies and had a very personal slant to it. As SC said, nobody knows what kind of job Zorn is going to do next year despite what they or we think. It truly seems like he is set up for more success than failure with a veteran playoff team, a largely veteran coaching staff and a front office willing to spend to improve areas that need improvement. Worst hire ever? He'd have to pull a Cam Cameron to acheive that.

This is bull crap Zorn will do well and I don't think that Joe Gibbs was an OC and he certainly had never been a HC his first time around. If you are a fan of the Skins just wish the man and the team well if not then don't worry about.

It is bull...but Joe Gibbs was an OC, not just that but he was one of the best.

I am really surprised as to how many people do not know that.
He actually was an OC for 3 seasons. 1 with Tampa Bay in 78, and 2 with San Diego in 79 and 80.
He was an amazing OC for those 2 years leading San Diego to the 2nd most points in the NFL in 79, and 4th most points in 80 (but #1 in yards in 80).

Re: Zorn "probably the worst NFL hire of all time"??

The Worst Hire in NFL History sure doesn't have problems getting his men. Stump signed on with no tour and Sherman Smith left 13 years with Fisher and the Titans to join Zorn.

The Titans offense over the past 13 years has been a hard nosed running attack with allot of nice passing. They had Air McNair and Wycheck back in the day and Cooley and Campbell could be looking good very soon! Look at Titans offensive style and I think that is similar to what we're going to look like but more passing.

Our offense is in good hands and will be vastly improved with the modern touch of Zorn and Smith vs. Gibbs and Saunders.
