I know people here have man-crushes on Mason, but come on don't make a big deal out of nothing.

I agree, Alexander was the MVP a few years ago for a reason. We got him on the cheap, not Snyder paying up the butt for washed up Deion, Andre Reed, Bruce Smith, etc. I still remember Johnny Morton burning Deion in the Silverdome in 2000. Andre Reed has what, a grand total of like 6 catches for us, one for a TD? Look at what the dumbass Jones just did. Gave up a bunch of picks for a WR that wasn't even needed. On top of that TO is going to be pissed!!!!! Cowboys are going down!!!!!!

Not to go off topic....I was watching Redskins Nation on Comcast and Cerrato was on....lol. He acts like he's trying to be cool but appears to be a nerd. lol. Oh well. He stated when Betts is healthy it's Betts job again. Wonder what they will do with SA? Change up on different games as to who #2 is? Just to throw off the other team. Put him on practice squad in case they need him again? I doubt they will release him in case of other injuries.

Agree big time. Anything, absolutely anything to stirr the muddy waters in Cowgirls territory. SA is going to play his hardest, he knows this is his chance to show he still has what it takes. Good guy, family man, want's to play in the worse way. Hope he proves the Skins made a great move. Randy

Question is what happens at the end of the season. Many have said Betts can start elsewhere. If Portis carries on the rest of the season like this, hell possibly have his best ever season. Given those facts and assuming Alexander proves his worth, I see them looking to get trade value from Betts and keeping Alexander another year to spell Portis. There are a few ifs in there, so I'm not making a prediction, but given the above pans out, I wouldn't be surprised to see Betts in another uniform next year.

its a nice situation to have Alexander spell for our top dog CP ....down the stretch, when Betts returns id spell all three if theyre all movin the ball and keep Portis healthly for playoffs...Ladells a good player, hope it dont conflict, but i think it will.

He knows the system and we can not take the chance at this time on a rookie. One question - what's wrong with Rock?

He's one of the better kick returners in the league. If we play him at RB and he gets hurt, we are short a RB and a talented KR.

Also, he played well at RB when given the chance in 2005, but did fumble a little too much. Last week we learned how bad fumbles can derail our offense, we can't afford them.

In his career, he averages a lost fumble every 36.75 carries.

For comparison:
Portis loses one every 123.07 carries.
Betts loses one every 99.57 carries.
Shaun Alexander has lost a fumble every 128.0 carries, even with the bad year with the broken hand.

Not a fan...I would have signed Mason. Alexander is washed up.

Ummmm, that's for the special teams coach to address, not Rock.

don't like the move. what could he bring to the table? i say let Rock pick up Ladells 5 carries a game. would rather see the skins go younger, maybe Mason. and no, i wasn't one of the people on this board that had a Mason man crush

Re: Redskins Sign Shaun Alexander (Merge) *updated*

During the preseason coaches were saying that Mason could not block, although bringing back Mason sounds as reasonable to me as signing Alexander.

Portis is the man so it is not a big deal. We need someone to take a few carries to rest CP but just a few carries. Alexander costs virtually nothing even if he is a flop. It is just not a big deal whether we went Mason or Alexander, as long as that person doesn't fumble.

dmek25, I like your idea. Maybe in the offseason we can find a young back who is as good or better than Mason.

Um... I still don't get why people are comparing SA to Mason.

What can he bring to the table? He's made it past pre-season and practice squad with a team. That's more then Mason has.

Go younger? This is a fill in position. Go past MVP.

So I ask again, for all those that don't agree with the move... you don't trust JZ's ability to evaluate talent? Probably the same people who want Janson to stay in.

All hail #35!
