He's too tall like JC. He'd never work in the WCO.

haha 44.

... seriously on JT playing OLB, my worry is that basically we're playing a 5-2 defense, which i haven't heard of since high school. Taylor isn't a great tackler and def not a huge hitter. As OLB, strong or weak, i think he'll just be roaming the LOS looking for the best spot to attack the QB or RB in the backfield but if he misses...

Obviously Blache will devise the best scheme but I feel like we get the most out of JT if he's our full-time RDE. Evans/Daniels and Carter would take turns at LDE but honestly Carter doesn't fit there very well. And we still need to find another OLB in this scenario. Clearly we've got a shit-ton of talent on d this year I just think it's a little unclear how to put it to it's best uses.

Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins

Can someone explain what is going on with the CBA in terms of what year will be uncapped and how this will impact our long term cap status (especially in the wake of this large splash we are making in FA this year)?

Schneed?

Is the front office taking a gamble that the salary cap will be higher in future years (if at all existent)?

I agree Goat RDE is his natural home and I hope they keep him there. But it seems like every time I say that someone says he cant play RDE in a 4-3. But the fact is he has played that position in a 4-3 most of his career.

Exactly, save for a year or two he played OLB in a 3-4 scheme.

I mean obviously we've got two natural RDEs in Carter and Taylor but Taylor is the pro-bowler at the position and AC is actually the stouter of the two (not by much but he's a tad shorter and about 10 to 15 lbs heavier during the season). Carter and Evans/Daniels can swap out at LDE, depending on the offense we face and down etc.

Thats why I said he can "hanlde" OLB but he will never be dominate unless given the freedom to play RDE. With AH in there helping out, JT would be a Beast

Honestly, I think that JT is getting a bad rap because his sack totals were low. All I hear about is that he can't do this or can't do that. In 2006 he was the Defensive player of the year. In 2007 he had a very productive year. People talk about this guy like he is a fraud instead of a warrior. I don't think he gets enough credit for playing through 2 SEVERE injuries. I also think that people are underestimating his pride. You think he wants to go out after last year? I doubt it. Jason Taylor is a monster and was a big contributor to the 4th best defense in the NFL last year. Plus, in my opinion the best game of the year by the defense was the second Philly game and he was all over the place.

All good points $$, and I'm not in anyway suggesting he's a fraud or anything like that but i do think it's legit to wonder where his pro-bowl talent is put to the best use... i tend to think Taylor has the best opportunity of all our guys to benefit from the presence of big Al and that means he's got to be on the LOS but i don't want to see him shedding huge blockers all day at LDE before he's got a shot at the QB.

I agree with you. Most of the negatives I have heard have been from talk show hosts who along with Jason LaCanfora have been consistently wrong with their speculation recently.
